AIBU to think this is not a very sensible idea?

Feels like the next thing will be lavender gin in a meths bottle. Engine gin

Does it taste good? That's what matters!

Yes! Add Fever Tree Mediterranean 😋

Tattletwat · 01/04/2024 10:21

You not seen all the weird shapes perfume comes in.

Toottooot · 01/04/2024 10:23

Canna see fit the problem is min.

Carrotsandgrapes · 01/04/2024 10:34

I'd have more safety concerns if they were selling engine oil in gin bottles.

LakeTiticaca · 01/04/2024 10:51

Given the extent of the nanny state now it would not come as a surprise if someone sued sainsburys because they thought it was engine oil and they've knackered their car!!

Corestly · 01/04/2024 10:58

That's my friend's birthday present sorted, thank you :).

Can I ask why are you surprised by this? (Not being snarky, just curious).

saraclara · 01/04/2024 11:09

Nothing to do with Sainsbury's really, it's a brand that they just happen to stock.

saraclara · 01/04/2024 11:10

Hmmm. I wonder if the OP is a PR person for Engine?

BoohooWoohoo · 01/04/2024 11:14

My teen son uses aftershave that comes in a fist shaped bottled but hasn’t try to punch it yet so don’t worry lol

ObsessedWithPalia · 01/04/2024 11:16

Selling engine oil in a gin bottle would be more problematic.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 01/04/2024 11:19

I like the packaging!! I think it’s lovely, it makes me think of cool Italian racing drivers from 1960s.
Does it bother you when they sell Filipo Berio Olive Oil in the same cans?

CamoPenguin · 01/04/2024 11:23

I'm going to look elsewhere for this, I love the bottle! Don't want to spend around £30 on it as gin is perhaps the most vile drink to exist, but I collect interesting bottles and have plenty of family and friends who like the stuff. 😁

user14932431 · 01/04/2024 12:11

I agree, so confusing. When my DC try to drink engine oil and they get GIN instead it could kill them, they are only 49 months.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 01/04/2024 12:14

I’ve just realised why my car broke down last week

JulesJules · 01/04/2024 12:27

Why is it not sensible? It's just marketing, I quite like it. Wouldn't give my Skoda any though

Jetstream · 01/04/2024 12:58

Wish Sainsburys operated shops here in Ireland.

IncompleteSenten · 01/04/2024 14:43

What worries you about it?
I would imagine the can is new and has never actually contained engine oil.
It's not for children so they won't confuse engine oil for it.
Any adult who drinks engine oil thinking its gin or puts gin in their engine has problems no change of packaging will solve.

Couggstar123 · 01/04/2024 14:51

Surely this is an ad 🤣🤣

TitsInAbsentia · 01/04/2024 15:07

Well if you work for the company then you've done your job as I'm definitely going to buy some!

housethatbuiltme · 01/04/2024 16:44

This level of silly makes me think of the Yosamite park rangers who when criticized for not putting in measures to stop bears getting into the camp bins responded with:

'Unfortunately their is a considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and that of the dumbest tourists'

Bumblebeeinatree · 01/04/2024 17:00

Perfect for a birthday present for a gin drinking petrol head friend of mine. Thank you.

Absolutely 😁

ThisRoseSeal · 01/04/2024 17:34

IT's a good idea

Muddywalks34 · 01/04/2024 17:38

What an odd thing to be surprised about, it’s just a gimmicky bottle and very clearly gin, not engine oil. My BIL bought us a bottle for Xmas for our bar as we like to have lots of different bottles on the shelves, have yet to open it but I like the fact it’s different and would definitely give as a gift to certain people

hangingonfordearlife1 · 01/04/2024 17:48
