In fairness, I think people who are worried about being outed are concerned their previous posts will be looked at & people they know will realise its them.

But they are so IMPORTANT people if they mention their husband going golfing/cricket/down the pub people AUTOMATICALLY think it's their Rupert.

it's annoying but not as annoying as posters who refer to their child as "they" when they could more easily say "he" or "she". And quite often, halfway through a long post, they'll slip and use the sexed pronoun anyway.

How is it "outing" to use the correct sex pronoun for your child?

I think most of the "this is outing" posters, whether about hobbies or anything else, have delusions of grandeur.

In the bad old days of Mumsnet, we used to know people's names and have meet ups. Now people are worried that they'll be recognised because their partner's into mudwrestling or marble competitions. Just say what it is then change yer feckling name
