Am I missing something? Why are we not more angry about the NHS agenda for change pay rise 2024/25?

The NHS pay rise is supposed to be announced September before it comes in. Government didn’t start the independent review until November (I think), and it’s still not been announced. They’re saying we’ll get back pay in September (but that messes people up who are on UC).

No one seems to be mentioning it even.

@RedFence thankfully I don’t claim UC but a couple of shingle mums in my team do. It’s so wrong to penalise them.

Hoping we will have an announcement soon. Does anyone one know when we're likely to hear any thing?

chocolaterevs · 26/05/2024 08:33

Does anyone have any idea when things will be decided? Many of my colleagues now earn less than Lidl/Aldi.

MyMonkeyDanced · 26/05/2024 08:48

I thought we were meant to find out in June and then get the back pay in September? I check the websites weekly as I really need to pay rise.

I wonder if this will be correct - 3.5%?

I also read that somewhere but also that trusts have been asked to budget for 2%

Nothing will happen until after the election

socks1107 · 05/06/2024 21:14

I heard today it could be end of the year now. It's a disgrace my bills have gone up with inflation but my wages haven't.
MPs had their lovely pay rise Angry

I can well beleive this …..in our Christmas pay if we are lucky

DrStrangesSmarterSister · 05/06/2024 21:20

I was thinking this recently - I understand it's expected in November, but it's not like the government wasn't aware that April was on its way...? It's always late I think, but why is that OK?

Amethystanddiamonds · 05/06/2024 21:32

The problem now is that there is the election and then parliament pretty much immediately go on recess until September. So November at the very earliest I suspect. If there is industrial action even longer. It's been late for the last few years. I seem to remember it always being paid on time during the coalition years but actually it may have just been that I was working up the pay scale when there still annual increments so it didn't matter as much to me.

socks1107 · 05/06/2024 21:42

It's just not ok and makes a mockery of us. Almost as if it's been done deliberately...
I just hope if it's pathetic we reject it and hold them accountable for more. Band 2s are now having to pay for parking separately as if they do it via salary sacrifice it puts them under minimum wage apparently . How has this even been allowed to happen?

GoogleWhacking · 05/06/2024 21:44

I posted about the additional delay due to the election last week. Most people didn't appear bothered.

Or unions are shit. Mine couldn't be arsed to get me a ballot paper for the strikes last year. Imagine if they tried doing this to the Fire Service!!!

I don't know why we aren't making more noise about this. Ok so we got a lump payout last year but by delaying this year so much has undone any good feeling around that for me

2% would be incredibly disappointing! I can't believe more people aren't kicking off about this delay? It's an insult to have to wait for backpay instead of receiving an increase in April.

Eviolle · 12/06/2024 22:57

Because the unions are a pile of wank and we're going to get shafted anyway.

RCN are the biggest waste of space ever, completely screwed us over and we'll never strike again. It was a once in a generation opportunity and we blew it.

Not that I'm bitter...

potatowine · 12/06/2024 23:02

It’s because we are classed as “ care workers” and we’re so “ dedicated “, we should be happy to work for peanuts !
We do it as a hobby.

You didn't actually expect to be paid a fair wage did you? We're (mainly) women, and we do our jobs because we care about people, not to actually earn enough to live on.

People who want to earn enough money to actually live, shouldn't consider care work as a career, you should only go into care because it's your vocation! Heaven forbid there was a monetary incentive to it!

VesperLind · 12/06/2024 23:16

I reckon 2 or 2.5% and we will get it in November pay packet at the earliest Negotiations have been paused because of election and then summer holidays will kick in. Wes will have a lot on his plate and will want to be seen to be making a big impact with eye-catching announcements in the first few months. Might even scrap the independent pay review body altogether which would add more delay.

I hope that you are wrong @VesperLind but have a feeling you might not be 😔.

I've seen in the news today that an above inflation pay rise of ~5% might get put forward? No idea how long that negotiation will take though...

We will get our back pay in our December pay….that’s my prediction

I might have left by then due to uncertainty with fixed-term contract. I assume I'd still be eligible for back-pay from April if that was the case?
