3 nights in a nice country/rural cottage or farmhouse. 6 adults and 2 dogs. Celebrating a life milestone. All professionals.

My budget wildly contrasts that of the other person looking.

Up to £200 per adult I would say but I'm not sure if that's really a reasonable budget or not, what budget did you have in mind OP?

Doseofreality · 26/03/2024 12:28

Celebrating a life milestone is the key info for me, therefore I’d say about £2K.

AgentProvocateur · 26/03/2024 12:28

About £2,500 for three nights.

PeanutCat1 · 26/03/2024 12:28

Also I guess it really depends on if it's singles or couples etc are people happy to share rooms?

Anon2190 · 26/03/2024 12:29

Assuming 3 bedrooms I would expect a minimum of £300 a night for something nice. Obviously though location could easily double that if somewhere very desirable.

RawBloomers · 26/03/2024 12:29

Difficult to say as depends on so much. But I’d probably start thinking around ~£1500

Caroparo52 · 26/03/2024 12:30

Cottage will be £1000ish total minimum..
Look at the options on Booking. Com also

Hoiz · 26/03/2024 12:30

So I’ve found a GORGEOUS farmhouse for £1200. Pinterest worthy. It’s discounted.

But apparently it’s a bit dearer than this other person was expecting.

fedupwithbeingcold · 26/03/2024 12:31

£1000 for accommodation and about £500 for food, not including drinks

siameselife · 26/03/2024 12:31

It sounds like a bargain, maybe the other person hasn't holidayed for a while?

wombleberry · 26/03/2024 12:33

£1200 is just £200 per person which would be what I'd be happy to spend (and would consider it a great price!) What budget were they expecting? If you have 3 bedrooms it's £400 per bedroom, which is only just over £100 per night, which is a great price however you cut it. How are you going to get 3 nights any cheaper?!

Hoiz · 26/03/2024 12:33

Happy to DM someone the property link to show how nice it is (especially for the price).

OP posts:
OatFlatWhiteForMe · 26/03/2024 12:33

Under £70pp/pn is a good deal

LlynTegid · 26/03/2024 12:35

None. I don't want to contribute to lack of rural housing for people in important jobs in rural areas.

Look for a dog friendly (or accepting) hotel instead.

Hoiz · 26/03/2024 12:36

Another thing going for it is that it is only a couple hours drive away. Not 3/4 hours as with some of the properties being shared by this other person. Means we can rock up without being stressed and crack open the drinks pronto.

OP posts:
CeeJay81 · 26/03/2024 12:38

I'd say that price was OK. £1,500(500 room) would be my max personality. I wouldnt be willing to pay 2k plus like others but would but fine with that price.

MabelMaybe · 26/03/2024 12:46

Are all 6 people splitting the cost or is this a shared birthday present for one of the party, so everyone is paying more?

Sera1989 · 26/03/2024 12:49

I would have said £700 total for the accommodation if I hadn't seen the other replies! Is that around what the other person thought it would cost?

rookiemere · 26/03/2024 12:58

Is there a nicest master bedroom? If so would you be happy to offer to pay a bit more to get that room?

Maryamlouise · 26/03/2024 13:12

I can't imagine you would get anything for less than £750 and that most places will be more like £900. And depends on the area and timing of trip as well I guess

shepherdsangeldelight · 26/03/2024 13:15

What time of year? And will it be in school holidays? That will have a huge impact on prices

FawnFrenchieMum · 26/03/2024 13:19

Hard to say without know the area and time of year etc.

I've got a BNB on my land, I'm not depriving anyone of accommodation, you don't know the details at all

rokaaroundthechristmastree · 26/03/2024 13:22

Our Airbnb is 3 double bedrooms, accommodating 6 adults and we charge £400 a night! We get plenty of bookings so presumably it's a fair price.

TokyoSushi · 26/03/2024 13:25

For 6 adults, £1200 - £1500, assuming each family/couple is only paying 1/3 of that
