Had a crap day, got a bollocking for something I didn't deserve to be bollocked about first thing at work. Been weeping at my desk but feel a bit better now, can't wait to get home, run a bath, have said bathwater, watch Hairspray with my kittens and puppy in clean pjs ( dh has text that he has washed and dried my favourite ones as he's off this morning ) and I'm going to have a bar of galaxy with cheesy cottage pie for dinner. I nearly feel better just writing this! What's your rubbish day remedy? Not an aibu sorry just wanted the traffic for ideas!

Help me turn my day around please :)

Netflix and takeaway. Early night with clean sheets. Tomorrow is a new day OP! Sorry it’s been crap today.

CreateAUsername2024 · 22/03/2024 16:41

Omg I love these replies! 20 mins to go, I have been inspired. Thank you for all the kind ones too. I've never read watership down but that is something my mum would agree with! Maybe now is the time? Potentially going to binge Friday Night Dinner ( fav episode is when the girlfriends finally visit ) or Gavin and Stacey...

I sometimes have wobbly mental health days, probably hormonal. I give myself permission to be really unproductive at work, easy meals and eat snacks guilt free. Try to get out for a walk in nature but often end up napping instead. It's an anything goes day, wherever i need to get through. I nearly always feel much better the same day. No space for guilt.

FizzyStream · 22/03/2024 16:45

I have had a challenging day and we're getting a takeaway. Just not having to think about cooking makes me feel better.

iLovee · 22/03/2024 16:54

Yours sounds delightful!! Definitely borrowing that on the next bad day! I usually add a facemask/hairmask in the bath too for extra pampering. I have a nice body oil I like to use from the white company as well.

A real treat for me at the moment is just uninterrupted time - so I can chill on tiktok/MNet/Insta or whatever in bed and not feeling guilty for not being productive!!

Hope your day improves ♥️

LoveSandbanks · 22/03/2024 16:57

Bubble bath, chocolate or wine and clean pyjamas is also my idea of bliss.

I’ve also had a shit day and the plan is to watch a movie with ds (15) and drink mead 🤷‍♀️

zingally · 22/03/2024 16:58

I've had a pants day as well.

I'm home now, but have got to go out again in 15 mins to view a property. I'm excited about seeing it (although I don't think it's the one for me), but I'd rather just stay at home!
When I'm home for that though, I'm going to have a shower and wash my hair. I love "washing a shit day off". Then I'm going to have fried eggs on toast for tea, and an early night.

EmilyPlay · 22/03/2024 16:59

Crack open the wine.

Aozora13 · 22/03/2024 17:01

This is very topical for me as my 7yo has had a shit day as the culmination of a shit week. She’s had a bit of a cry, a big cuddle, a mini magnum and free rein of the tv remote. Seems to have helped! She’s probs a bit young for a relaxing bath which is how I like to drown my sorrows now alcohol no longer agrees with me.

Mmhmmn · 22/03/2024 17:03

Write down and email the thing that you shouldn’t have got a bollocking for. You don’t need that injustice to stand.

Your plans sound good. Hot bath 🤗 PJs on early, roll up in duvet. Favourite films/TV

fabio12 · 22/03/2024 17:12

Cheese
Music
Bath

All three at once if needed.

Cloud44 · 22/03/2024 17:13

Sorry to hear some have had a bad day, but some lovely ideas here so bookmarking for future inspiration!

goingdownfighting · 22/03/2024 17:14

A good swearing session with my bff.

But what you've got planned sounds great. Enjoy

pumpkinpiee · 22/03/2024 17:14

Hot bath with a Lush bath bomb followed by fresh pjs, a big bowl of pasta and a glass of wine whilst watching The Office US. I hope your day improves x

I had a rubbish day yesterday. The dark cloud was over me!
a stranger asked me to take a photo of him & GF & I declined. Well he did ask.
ever since I’ve felt great!
But I do wonder how it made him feel.

WhatFlavourIsIt · 22/03/2024 17:21

I've had a crap day, too. I'm getting into my jammies. I'm having tomato soup with crusty bread and wine for dinner and, after that, some tipsy sex on the couch!

Jackierussell123 · 22/03/2024 16:29

I’d love to say a long walk and some mediating but no, a strong vodka and assorted snacks

Yep, crisps, wine, M&S ready meals. Some history documentary or drama series. Watching Gunpowder on Netflix now with a big glass of cold while after a hectic and slightly bruising week at work. Feel better all and thanks for starting this OP!

dutysuite · 22/03/2024 17:37

I listen to /watch comedy. I love a good laugh. Or I listen to music. Nice food.

cordeliachaseatemyhandbag · 22/03/2024 17:38

Food alcohol and tv

This is why I'm fat.

Yourethebeerthief · 22/03/2024 17:43

Sorry you've had a rubbish day. Your husband is lovely and thoughtful and your evening plans sound like bliss!

For me these things help when I'm feeling rubbish:

Number one is a cry and a cuddle from my husband. Following that...

-A walk on a sunny evening (thank god we're starting to get more of those now) while listening to music/audiobook
-A long hot bath
-Pasta for dinner and comfort telly. Something I've seen a million times but still love to watch, like Frasier.

I also go a bit bonkers when I'm feeling down and have a massive clear out. Tidy everything up, make up bags to donate to the charity shop, rearrange furniture. I think psychologically it's like a mini fresh start when I'm feeling really rubbish.

Zola1 · 22/03/2024 17:46

I've had a really really busy week, working back to back review meetings to try to get through my wild workload. Last night I met some old friends and went for a Greek snd that really cheered me up and tonight I'm eating pasta and watching Netflix and getting an early night

bringmorewashing · 22/03/2024 17:48

A bath is the very best thing for a bad day. You can't beat it! I don't have one in my current home (sob) but my other go-to cure is making my favourite meal, grilled salmon with pesto, baby new potatoes with lots of butter, and spinach sautéed in garlic. Easy enough that I can do it even whilst feeling utterly terrible, and healthy enough that I feel pleased with myself rather than guilty later. And several glasses of wine (or champagne if things are looking truly bleak...)

myusernamewastakenbyme · 22/03/2024 17:49

Big fat bottle or 2 of cider and Criminal Minds on TV
