Can some other knowledgeable woman out there please help?

I constantly get thrush. Or if no signs of thrush, still itchy!

The past 3 months especially have been really bad.

Can someone please help? It's stressing me out so much now.

Natural yoghurt slathered on down there!

mamacorn1 · 22/03/2024 07:32

vagisil . I bet it’s not thrush, but this stuff really helps .

Didimum · 22/03/2024 07:33

Have you been tested by GP? If not, go do that. Establish it is actually thrush.

What have you tried so far?

Health47 · 22/03/2024 07:35

Get an oral pill and cream from pharmacist. I had similar and that helped.

SpringSprungALeak · 22/03/2024 07:36

Have you had your blood sugars tested for diabetes?

when I haven't got good control of mine I get this.

I go through packets of water wipes, they help!

then I get back on the wagon & stop being a carby twat & it stop within 24 hours. The relief!

Looking 👁

and Know that feeling 😕 of intense itching driving bonkers...

Sdpbody · 22/03/2024 07:42

2% cream from pharmacy.

Or go to docs and get a course of thrush medicine.

I had 6 pesseries (one a night) and a tablet every other day. My thrush finally cleared up after 8 months!!

Also, make sure to wipe down with soap/water, any sex toys that come in to contact with your vulva after each use.

TragicMuse · 22/03/2024 07:43

Have you tried an intensive course of fluconazole to get rid of it?

3 doses, each one taken 72 hours apart, then another 3 doses each one taken weekly. I'd see your GP to discuss it...but you can also buy fluconazole over the counter. Or on Amazon.

lockslocks · 22/03/2024 07:46

@Didimum courses of Flucanazalole (no idea how you spell this apparently!) so far.

Have had blood sugars tested and they're fine - although I'm now thinking I do eat far too much sugar in my diet.

Treat your partner- often the source of reinfection

MrsElsa · 22/03/2024 07:52

Stop eating all sugary things
Eat more fibre/whole foods to slow down digestion and flatten out blood sugar spikes

Once you've had severe thrush it can just lurk dormant and re activate when blood sugar goes too high.

My last bout was triggered by a chain coffee where they put sugary syrup instead of the sugar free stuff 🙃 I shouldn't have drunk it!!!

tallwivglasses · 22/03/2024 07:53

Probiotics made a difference for me. Good luck, it's miserable.

Saymyname28 · 22/03/2024 07:55

The boots combined BV and thrush sorted me

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/03/2024 07:55

The only thing that helped me when I had severe thrush was a course of flucanazole (sp) from my GP. The over the counter ones didn't do anything unfortunately

AlmostCutMyHairToday · 22/03/2024 07:57

I had thrush on and off for over a year. Tried all the treatments, hugely reduced sugar in my diet, gave up alcohol, even had full bloods and a scan to check it wasn't anything else. Nothing worked.
Then I quit drinking coffee and it went away on it's own! I can still drink coffee but have to limit it to one or two cups a week. No idea why, but maybe it's something like that?

lockslocks · 22/03/2024 07:59

@ScrummyDiva2 we've done that too with just the tablet.

@tallwivglasses every day? I do have some but tend to just take 1-2 a week.

This 👆

Flucanazole and Canesten didn’t work for me. Had 5-6 bouts a year. The Boots pessaries cleared it up for good – haven’t had a bout for 2 years.

YouDidntEvenAskIfSheWasThereMoriarty · 22/03/2024 08:24

On top of the other advice you've had, I recommend trying getting a few packs of big cotton knickers and only wear those for a bit. Wash them on a hot wash with hypoallergenic stuff and no fabric softener.

Don't wear tights or anything with a tight gusset.

Also, if you take baths, swap to unscented bath salts rather than bubbles.

lockslocks · 22/03/2024 10:16

@Didimum my issue is I have such a fear of pessaries 😂 I know it's ridiculous. I can't cope with them!

OP posts:
thatgirlinjapan · 22/03/2024 10:19

I'm sorry but another vote for pessaries. Like an internal waterfall of relief

BobbyBiscuits · 22/03/2024 10:29

You might have a yeast intolerance? Do you eat a lot of bread? Beer and sugar trigger it as well I think.
Definitely use natural live yoghurt, it's really soothing. I soak a tampon in it and it's nice and cold and stops the itch!
You may have another issue though, so if it's not clear soon maybe go back to the GP/clinic.

Droolylabradors · 22/03/2024 10:42

Personally I have to knock it out with multiple flucanazole and clomitrazole

I prefer the hard pessary to the gel, it gives a longer lasting relief.

I buy all off Amazon, own brand significantly cheaper than canes ten.

I've also done a 6 month course of flucanazole.

It's not ridiculous. I get it. But thrush is soooo miserable and it really is ideal to treat the infection at the site – can you find the courage?? Is there a fear of something particular?

TheSandgroper · 22/03/2024 11:06

Think is a nuclear option but, many years ago, a neighbour painted herself with gentian violet out of desperation. Her granny probably suggested it. If I remember correctly, it worked.
