To go nuclear over this- bin and mug crimes

My DH is normally lovely but he has done not one but two crimes and I need some perspective.

  1. He hasn't been emptying the kitchen bin, just pushing stuff further down. I tried to empty the bin just now as it stinks and the bag has burst sending the contents flying.
It's a mess and so much stuff is still lodged in there.
  1. The builder has been here and H gave him my mug for his brew. My mug that has 'Mum' written on it that I got as a gift.
I don't know why he has done that.

Are these things that would bother you?

You can’t go comparing OP’s DH to a teenager whilst you showcase the mentality of a toddler

Well thanks for your view but if I had the will to type out what my ex husband did to make me feel this was the tiny bit of power I could reclaim I think you might reflect that he was lucky I didn’t put something much worse in it.
But that’s the end of that as I’m not here to derail the thread.

The bin is very annoying and he needs to clean it up.

The mug is definitely divorce territory!

Really? I’m on divorce number 2 after another abusive husband. Personally I have never felt the need to spit in either of their tea as I’m a grown adult and can act like one. Stop making up excuses for your disgusting behaviour

If the bin is his job then yes he's unreasonable. If it's not his allocated job you could have emptied it yourself.

The mug I would have seriously been upset with I can't abide someone else using my favourite mug

A mug is a piece of crockery, not something deeply sacred and personal. You’re not a toddler

He did clean up the bin and asked why I didn't just wait for him to do it. I dont know, it was smelly and overflowing?
He apologised for the mug and is getting me a new one tomorrow. Maybe I should have written 'light-hearted' on the thread. I just wanted to gauge others' reactions and I'm surprised so many said they wouldn't be bothered about the mug.
Anyway, all is well again 😊

Bin thing confuses me, because unless he's the only person in the family who creates waste and throws it away, then surely you've both been doing that and are both equally culpable.

Mug thing? Meh, wouldn't bother me at all.

Why do you need a new mug because a builder drank out of it?

Are there special diseases that builders get that other people don't? Has a builder's touch tainted your drinks forevermore?

My son make tea in the coffee mugs and coffee in the tea mugs. I love him and I appreciate his rare ventures into hot beverage preparations, but a little bit of me dies each time he puts them in the wrong mugs.

🤣

Oh I would definitely be bothered about the mug. DP would be having it surgically removed from his rear end if he did that🤣

Why exactly are you so possessive over mugs? You sound like a toddler

Its not possesiveness necessarily. I have a mug hierachy, people get a mug based on how I feel about them on that particular day.

Shoxfordian · 22/03/2024 09:03

He's getting you a new mug because the builder used it?
Do you think being a builder is contagious, that you might suddenly have the urge to knock down a wall or put up a shelf?
