To think I can get an august holiday for 4 for under 1k

Following on from yesterdays thread re haven. dates are a non negotiable, has to be last week of august.

im looking for a nice and clean, ideally by a beach, kid centric (nearly 5 and 2.5) and a nice clean and not too cold pool with a splash area.

i have 1k to spend, fully appreciate it will be a UK hols.

debated a haven as per previous post but so many of the reviews are that they are dirty and I can’t deal with that. Butlins Bognor might be another contender but would like to try something new. Butlins hotel and food package is coming in at around £900

where should I go?

Look at park holidays, more affordable

Why not go direct to a caravan owner group and book a caravan from the owner instead of thru Haven .

I know devon cliffs have a fb group for this. You'll find it's cheaper and then you can choose your own caravan and see the reviews on it.

Can you use the facilities and pool if you do this?

Only if you purchase the passes separately- you can find the cost for them on the haven website

Lovelyview · 16/03/2024 11:25

https://www.eastbriscoe.co.uk/availability/ doesn't have last week in August but has two bedroom cottages for £730 for the week beginning 9th August. Has a pool and hot tub.

i wouldn’t want the use of a hot tub, I hate them and too dangerous to have around the dcs being so young

Have you looked on hoseasons website, they do discounts if you work in certain industries as well. We’ve done a few holiday parks with them and they have been really good.

^ I should also caveat butlins by saying the food in the dining package was not great. Salads and desserts were fine but the mains were not good. However my children ate the kids selection (pastas and pizzas) so that’s my primary focus

We go to Butlins Skegness and the food there is always great! Not high end but well cooked good food.

jeaux90 · 16/03/2024 11:37

My advice for next year is a lot of the family owned caravan parks do early bird discounts.

I booked for a week at Woolacombe last October for this July and got 20% off for up front payment.

Does not include food but you can definitely get a week for under 1k in Cornwall/Devon in some of the independent parks.

It could be a personal taste preference as other people seemed to like it, it was hella busy though that’s for sure

Park dean Thorness Bay Isle of Wight. They usually do a deal including the car ferry too.

Did you get the hotel package or the food court? We've always done the hotel package and it's been fine, not amazing but could always find something to eat.

It will be heaving in August but so will everywhere!

I feel like we did the advance or premier or something, it was breakfast and dinner in the buffet place. We really (dh and i) didn’t like the mains but as the kids were fed, greater good and all that

Parkdean sites? We've booked one for July, around £500 for 4 nights. Obviously that's only the accommodation but I think when I looked there were similar prices available last week of August.

Springrabbitheadingforeaster · 16/03/2024 12:12

In 2022 we had a week in Praia da rocha for 1000, flights and self catering hotel for 2 adults 2 children. That was last week of August.

This year we're trying a eurocamp in italy. Flights and accommodation less than 1000 again.

WhamBamThankU · 16/03/2024 12:13

I like the haven sites on the Yorkshire coast. Beaches are lovely, plenty of nice seaside towns to visit in less than 45 mins and I've never had a complaint about the caravans or sites. But I do usually go for a more premium caravan as they're in quieter parts of the site.

Horaced · 16/03/2024 12:16

OneForTheRoadThen · 16/03/2024 10:57

I would look at eurocamps. Some of them may be under £1k then, especially the smaller ones.

If someone can find this, do share. We go to a cheaper site and even at May half term it's more like £1400 with the ferry. Going in August, even in one of the last 2 weeks which are the cheapest, adds around £800 every time I've looked. Would be very happy to be told otherwise though.

I’ve seen some for 5 nights at around £600 BUT that’s not including transport.

There are eurocamp holidays available under 1k if that's just for accommodation?

Thisisembarassing · 16/03/2024 12:47

Anyone got any eurocamps recommendations then? France ideally

choccielover36 · 16/03/2024 13:34

The Isle of Wight? Whitecliff Bay is usually really reasonable and getting the ferry over feels like you are going abroad. Also look at the very end of August if you can. Prices usually drop in the last week of the summer hols.

MummytoAAandX · 16/03/2024 13:41

You can get some really good deals on Hoeseasons

A few years ago I managed a holiday in Corsica the last week of the summer hols for about £900 for 4 of us. It was a fab holiday even if the accommodation was a bit small. Definitely doable for a summer holiday.

Could you link to how you did this - flights, accommodation, etc? I would absolutely love to go to Corsica and could spend a bit more than this.

Tabletable · 16/03/2024 13:53

Got to Brittany for slightly cheaper eurocamps.

This one is £572 and for that week and has five stars.
