I have ptsd of anything medical down below after having an horrific birth and then having to have repair surgery many years later, and a biopsy on my cervix a few years ago . I’m very sensitive down there and so anything medical I end up crying.

iv been having horrific cramp and diagnosed Pelvic inflammatory disease last week (on antibiotics) but the exam absolutely killed and i was sobbing uncontrollably.

been sent for a scan today and told the copper coil is in my cervix.

im so so so nervous. Sat waiting to see the consultant on the results of my scan but i feel like I could cry and my hand are literally sweating.

help me :(

Be adamant that you want to be sedated when it is taken out.

What a horrible thing to happen. So sorry.

MissusKay · 13/03/2024 10:33

When you speak to the consultant let them know about your trauma so you can get appropriate support for any future procedures. Ask about sedation. Don't suffer needlessly.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 13/03/2024 10:34

It'll be OK. They're here to help you and make you feel better.

Is there something you can treat yourself with afterwards to look forwards to?

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 10:35

I’m quite scared of sedation too but il give anything ago.

my hands are literally sweating.

scan only took 10 mins so I don’t think anything else is wrong but she wouldn’t say.

arghhhhhhhh

I will do, they never really take you seriously though :(

Bless you, sounds so tough. Sending you strength and healing 💞

VictorianBigot · 13/03/2024 10:40

I get it... I've had so many painful gynae exams and procedures that I'm a wreck at the thought of anything down there now. I thought I could manage my last coil removal but I ended up sobbing and shaking and hyperventilating and needing gas and air and vowed never again.

Explain you're traumatised. You can ask for sedation or even GA.

nimski · 13/03/2024 10:41

My coil was embedded in my pelvis, Had general anaesthetic to have it removed, no problems since x

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 10:42

Doesn’t help that when I was asking for reassurance from the scan woman that it would be easy to removed she replied “hopefully”

I had propofol sedation and was terrified. But it was AMAZING. It was honestly the best nap I've ever had and I was so annoyed when the nurse woke me up.

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 10:47

Will they give it me today as I’m driving myself? Or do you think il have to come back?

Are they planning on removing it today then?

You can't drive yourself after sedation, you need someone to take you home and be with you afterwards. But you can drive yourself after gas and air, if that's an option.

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 10:58

I have no idea yet still in the waiting room to see the consultant :(

feel so sick all of a sudden and in quite abit of pain :(

OP posts:
Remagirl · 13/03/2024 11:12

It's your body and you can dictate how they treat you. If they are going to attempt anything you feel uncomfortable with tell them you want to come back and have proper sedation / anaesthetic.

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 11:29

Thank you, I’m going to say I don’t think I can go through with it unless I get something medication.

even the internal scan hurt. I’m in so much pain in general in my pubic area but makes sense if it’s this causing it :(

Have you been seen yet?

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 12:01

Iv had it out. The cramping is horrific :( she said iv have pelvic inflammatory disease because of the coil being in the wrong place and my body has been cramping to try and remove it .

never having one again.

OP posts:
VictorianBigot · 13/03/2024 12:07

I'm so sorry @Thedarksideofrbemoon04 but thank god it's out now and you don't have to worry about it anymore. Hopefully the cramps will settle down soon. Are you able to get into bed when you get home and rest up?

caringcarer · 13/03/2024 12:14

Definitely ask for Propofol. You will have to wait a while before you can drive your self home but it's worth the extra time waiting.

EC22 · 13/03/2024 12:17

Is it embedded or just sitting there?

My coil was in my cervix as my body was trying to expel it, which meant it’s removal was extremely easy and ended the cramp and bleexing id been experiencing.

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 13/03/2024 16:10

Thank you everyone.

in bed and feeling so sore and generally meh. Started bleeding but they said that was expected.

apparently the pelvic inflammatory disease is from the coil being misplaced.

never having another one lol

really want to be sterilised :(

You did really brilliantly! And now it's out, you can start to get better.

If today isn't the day for a giant frappuwhatchacallit, how about something like the most expensive strawberries in the shop?

Thedarksideofrbemoon04 · 14/03/2024 21:57

Still in so much pain :(

OP posts:
redastherose · 14/03/2024 23:19

Do you have any painkillers, paracetamol and nurofen can be taken alternatively. You can contact the doctors for something stronger first thing in the morning. Otherwise, the warmth from a hot water bottle might help with the cramping.
