I have ptsd of anything medical down below after having an horrific birth and then having to have repair surgery many years later, and a biopsy on my cervix a few years ago . I’m very sensitive down there and so anything medical I end up crying.

iv been having horrific cramp and diagnosed Pelvic inflammatory disease last week (on antibiotics) but the exam absolutely killed and i was sobbing uncontrollably.

been sent for a scan today and told the copper coil is in my cervix.

im so so so nervous. Sat waiting to see the consultant on the results of my scan but i feel like I could cry and my hand are literally sweating.

help me :(

I feel for you, similar happened to me with the Mirena and I ended up having a general anaesthetic and blood transfusion, will never have it again. That said I recovered well, make sure to get some good rest

Insist on sedation and ask if you can have Ativan (Lorazepam.) Its a very effective anti anxiety medication which is also a sedative in higher doses. It not only removes anxiety at the time of the procedure, you won't have any negative memories later on. You may have to ask for it in advance.
Its 2024 and there's no excuse for people having to experience anxiety or pain during medical procedures.

I'm sorry you went through that. It sounds scary. The lack of resources/painkillers/sedation for women going through these procedures is mind boggling. Men would be given way more!

I really can't recommend sterilisation enough. I walked out same day and never took a single painkiller post surgery. Not to be a martyr I just genuinely didn't need it.
The most I felt discomfort was when I tried to use my stomach muscles to pull me up from laying down.
My abdominal felt like it was the day after a big gym work out.
Best decision ever.
