To think most people must hate their jobs?

Or am I just so bloody unlucky?

I've just switched jobs again and already not convinced it's for me. I am sticking it out for a couple of years before moving on but god, i can't be arsed to dread going to work!

Is this just life? I want to be at home with my kids and if I'm going to be away from them and putting them in childcare I want to atleast feel like it's somewhat enjoyable. But it never is!

I know a few people who like their jobs, but they tend to be people who've either found their vocation or a very easy-going job and also who earn a lot and have enough back up money and support (e.g. inheritance, family/spouse doing childcare) that they're very secure in their position and don't have the pressure of needing to stay in that work to survive.

Most people I've known just cope by finding other enjoyment in life if they can find the spare time, or are stressed and unhappy.

I love my job, but I'm self employed but currently only work part time, partly due to being my OH's carer & also having my own health conditions.

I really like and enjoy my job.

Having been in a role that I hated for 18 months and just gone back to my old role I can safely say I love my job and appreciate it even more than ever now I've seen the grass certainly isn't greener. I was so lucky to get my old job back. I don't feel sick in the morning, don't think about work away from home and don't cry with relief every Friday.

It is not the job I hate, it is the employers, if that makes sense.

My field of work is actually quite creative (comms, marketing, PR, graphic and web design) and enjoyable so I have no issues with the actual tasks.

What I resent is employers doing things like: lying about job descriptions, recruiting wit the promise of WFH and then trying to withdraw that and just not giving reasonable pay increases, the politics, failing to support people when they have serious health issues, bullying some staff or being openly ageist.

I had some really decent employers for the first maybe 12 years of my career in the charity sector then it well downhill in term of how employers behave towards staff...

As my dad says, the only good job is no job. And he has someone who has been in the military, been a police office etc.

I'm a mental health nurse. I'm passionate about my job and love seeing patients, but despise the rest of it lol. As much as I find it rewarding, doesn't stop me living for annual leave. I often dread going in. It's also a stressful job tbh.

I don't think humans are meant to live this way. Working 9-5 Monday to Friday (and let's be real it's more like 8-6 when you factor in commute, getting ready etc). No time to do much in an evening because you need to cook, look after kids, and do chores.

Then you have a weekend where again you need to catch up and chores. So you have like 1 day to do stuff for yourself.

My ideal would be working 3 days. That leaves plenty of time for hobbies. Life should be about enrichment and self discovery, not work. I'm pregnant now and feel it more than even as I'd love just to look after my child for a few years, but financially I can't.

Ah the fantasy of being a stay at home parent.
as jobs go I quite like mine but I absolutely loathe going into work.
I want to sleep in and jog my kid to school, bake all day and drink cocktails in the afternoon.
if I won enough money to pay out my mortgage I’d definitely quit.
I plan spending my sick leave so I get extra time off.
how we still consider 5 days at work and 2 days at home a work/life balance il never know
