Dirty nappies in front garden

DogualCat · 28/02/2024 13:46

One of my delightful neighbours chucks dirty nappies out of her windows onto the front garden. They are in nappy sacks and do get picked up in the end but is it just me who thinks this is absolutely disgusting?

I've had to go out and pick up loose nappies strewn across the street this morning as something has got into a bag and strewn the contents along the pavements. it's just so vile and I can't work out why anyone would do it? I've seen a few other houses where filled nappy sacks have been sat outside front doors so am I missing something? Is this a thing?

That's disgusting and lazy.
I wouldn't hesitate to ask her to stop

biostudent · 28/02/2024 13:50

My son is still in nappies and I have never thought to do anything other than pop them in a nappy bag and straight into the bin! They don't get left anywhere ever except the bin and then that's put straight into the big wheelie bin!
I wouldn't have any quarms about asking her to stop that!

Hoglet70 · 28/02/2024 13:51

My neighbours chuck their nappy bags out of the front door too. It's disgusting. if it is a new thing to be this disgusting, I hope it stops soon.

BobbyBiscuits · 28/02/2024 15:02

It's utterly gross. Someone who does that clearly is not reasonable so I wouldn't even bother confront them.
I'd complain to the landlord/HA/ council/ building owner? If she owns the house then tell the council she's fly tipping and take photos.

Treehuggingmutherfunkin · 28/02/2024 18:04

Shes scummy I would tell her to stop

She doesn't want the nappy to make her house smell in her indoor bin. So she's chucking them outside so she doesn't have to leave baby every time while she traipses to the outdoor bin. I'm not saying this is reasonable btw, but I'm guessing that's why. I have my wheelie bin pulled right up to the back door when I'm home alone for similar reasons!

DinnaeFashYersel · 28/02/2024 18:09

Report them to Environmental Health at your council.

SomeCatFromJapan · 28/02/2024 18:10

That is absolutely disgusting.

jolenethea · 28/02/2024 18:11

Are they in their front garden? I pop mine in a plant pot by the front door, taking them out to the bin every evening.
Saying that, my garden isn't overlooked by anyone or passed by anyone. If it was I possibly wouldn't!

pickledandpuzzled · 28/02/2024 18:11

I would never have left them overnight, but would occasionally leave one by the front door for DH to bin when he came home. Otherwise it’s shoes on, baby under arm, ever time you change a dirty nappy.

Probably.
What has nationality got to do with it?

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 28/02/2024 18:16

I had one of those nappy bins that you turn the handle on the top, zero smells. That's really gross lobbing them into the garden!

Dacadactyl · 28/02/2024 18:18

Trampy behaviour from the neighbour.

Mazuslongtoenail · 28/02/2024 18:19

Objectively, is it actually ‘disgusting’ to have a bagged, tied up nappy by your own front door, outdoors? What health hazard is there in reality?

United Utilities pumping sewage into our rivers is absolutely disgusting. A sealed up bag, temporarily outside on someone’s own property - I cannot get worked up about.

Doseofreality · 28/02/2024 18:20

That’s grim! Lazy fecker behaviour.

modgepodge · 28/02/2024 18:20

A friend of mine used to do this, throw it out of her daughters bedroom window after changing, as she thought leaving them in the room made it smell bad. She (or her husband) did use to go and pick them up and bin them at least daily however! I think it’s pretty gross to be fair especially if they end up not remaining in the garden.

Shuffleshoop · 28/02/2024 18:22

I had a childminder who did this once. She convinced me it was normal but looking back it really wasn't.

justaboutdonenow · 28/02/2024 18:23

It's disgusting but at least they do actually clear them up, some people don't!

Katela18 · 28/02/2024 18:23

We had a nappy who did this.
She had a toddler and then baby twins. I had a baby at the same time as the twins.

I always assumed it was because she didn't want to have to go out of the house and leave all the children which I understood although it would obviously have been better if they had a tub or plant pot because sometimes there could be 6,7,8 + nappies lying on the front 😂

Her husband used to pick them up when he came home from work.

We had a nappy bin which I just used to empty in the evenings

Changeeusername · 28/02/2024 18:28

OMG. Such minkers. Can't believe it.

Comedycook · 28/02/2024 18:31

This is so weird.l and disgusting..how lazy can you be. I mean why stop with nappies... could just lob all rubbish out the window. Imagine.

Riapia · 28/02/2024 18:38

Weirder still to go into the street picking up somebody else’s dirty nappies.
🤮🤮

Wrongsideofpennines · 28/02/2024 18:43

This is so weird. We actually only use disposable nappies overnight but while we were still needing to change overnight we had a mini bin upstairs and would empty it daily. Otherwise the nappy comes downstairs and straight in the outside bin. If it's really raining or the baby can't be left then it might be left on the side in the utility room until a convenient time for me to do it.

bingoringo4 · 28/02/2024 18:46

I used to Chuck them out of my back door when mine were babies. Who wants shitty nappy's in there house 🤮 I'd pick them up as soon as I could but sometimes at the end of the day.
