In Not Finding This Funny

I was having a look at the baby clothes on ebay and found this

It's not that I have a problem with slogan t-shirts as such, although I don't tend to buy them, I do think they can be funny or cute.

This on the other hand I just find offensive.

Very funny. The world needs more laughter

staryeyed · 25/03/2008 11:53

Why are offensive slogan t-shirt funny anyway? I saw some yesterday in a men's clothes shop that said "girls suck, women swallow" So disgusting and tacky.

Youcannotbeserious · 25/03/2008 11:56

If I saw a man() wearing that, I would think he was a twunt (unless he was on a stag do or similar!)

Though, the worst slogan T-shirt I ever saw was in M&S and read:

'Graduated from the University of Life...

... With Honours'

Not offensive at all, but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO toe curlingly cheesy.

agnesnitt · 25/03/2008 12:15

I was pondering getting myself the 'good spanking' variant from the original US store. The grey hooded sweater one, for preference.

They also do a 'please excuse my nipple breath' babies tee. It's all about humour and what makes you snortle

Agnes

RahRahRachel · 25/03/2008 14:16

I laughed at the They Shake Me one

theyoungvisiter · 25/03/2008 14:20

"It's all about humour and what makes you snortle"

I don't think it is though Agnes. It's one thing to wear them yourself (and totally fine), it's quite another to put them on an unsuspecting toddler who doesn't get the joke.

I have the same unease with these kind of things as seeing toddlers holding up anti-abortion placards. In a different league, obviously, but it's still using your kid as a walking bill-board, just to make a point/raise a larf.

PrettyCandles · 25/03/2008 14:25

'Mother sucker' is to me a bit like 'FCUK' - gratuitous, not witty.

'He thinks he's my daddy' is at least potentially witty.

As for 'they shake me', I think that makes light of something rather nasty. But while I don't like such things, there are other people who've lived through or with the thing made light of find it perfectly acceptable. Wasn't there a thread recently about a drink called something like Suicide Bomber? Many of us were shocked, but others considered this an acceptable way of dealing with the nastiness of it.

poodlepusher · 25/03/2008 14:28

I find all slogan tee shirts to be totally naff beyond reason, but this takes the biscuit. It is TOTALLY offensive.

JodieG1 · 25/03/2008 14:30

I'm not keen on any slogan t-shirts but that one is quite bad.

Bluebutterfly · 25/03/2008 14:34

In bad taste but, also, not even funny.

I often wonder if these children's slogan tshirts are not only produced, but also designed, in some sweat shop where the command of English is about as good as the working conditions.

Flubdub · 25/03/2008 18:40

I think SOME are ok - but only a few. These are quite good - especially the 'Pint' and 'Half Pint' ones.

benbon · 25/03/2008 18:41

it is all down to personal taste... my son had a t-shirt with " dont laugh but he's my dad" and i found it really funny...

you dont have to buy them iff you dont like them.

SheikYerbouti · 25/03/2008 18:44

That dad and lad site is so cheesy!

BearMama · 25/03/2008 18:51

I hate slogan T-shirts - there's a crappy cheap shop near me with a T-Shirt for a 9 year old in the window that says "Wanna go back stage" YUK.

LynetteScavo · 26/03/2008 08:53

I was going to buy myself this

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 26/03/2008 09:10

Tacky tacky and tacky - I would never wear a slogan t-shirt nevermind put my baby in one!

Janni · 26/03/2008 09:13

Adults who put clothes like this on children are immature beyond belief.

TeaDr1nker · 26/03/2008 09:16

Speaking of slogan t.shirts. I was in Tesco and they had a top from birth saying 'does my bum look big in this'. I was shocked. didn't know who to conplain to though

benbon · 26/03/2008 09:23

you all need to lighten up... its a laugh. no one is forcing you to put them on your children.

believe it or not we dont all want our children dressed in sailor outfits from laura ashley...

lillypie · 26/03/2008 09:31

I'm not against slogan t-shirts at all, I just think the one in my OP is sick!

OP posts:
JODIEhavingababy · 27/03/2008 08:22

I'm the same, I don't mind slogan t-shirts as long as they are appropriate (sp?) The one in the OP was a bit sick!!!

VictorianSqualor · 27/03/2008 08:34

DS has a t-shirt that says 'Probably..the coolest kid in the world' it's cute, even if it is based on a beer advert.

I see a lot of t-shirts that make me smile, but I wouldn't buy them.

'They shake me' reminds me of the Family Guy type of humour, maybe if it had a picture of Stewie on it wouldn't seem so bad.

When the slogan tops are just slogans they seem less acceptable, I have a spongebob one that says I love Nerds but it'd look a bit silly if it was just plain black or w/e.

Peachy · 27/03/2008 08:58

I don't mind slogan t-shirts but I do tend to think crefully about them first- ds3 had one that said 'Mummy's milk is yummy milk' which I regret passing on after he outgrew it as I'd love it for this one. Some others make me cringe but they can have personal humour- ds3 also had one recently that said 'Get outta my way'- i'd never have bought that for the other 2, but ds3 is very language delayed and that was his stock phrase at the timeso it amde people who actually knew him smile.

I have no more issue with slogan t-shirts than some prints or designs- ds1 tends to choose his own clothes now (he's 8) and I cringe at things like the skull-printed hoodie he chose in Woolies.

The slogan in the OP is not funny though, it's sick.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 27/03/2008 09:03

The only one I have seen that makes me grin is the one with the pram on it and the slogan "Drive it like you stole it".

sorkycake · 27/03/2008 09:09

I quite like ipeed & ipood ones.

The best one I saw was on offesnive tee's site shortly after 9/11 and it had a comic baby on it saying "osama bin laden is a doody head"
`i found that funny

I think the hlaf pint matching dad n baby ones are boak cheesy
