Obviously someone has to be the last but seeing him on his own made me feel so sad for him …. He’s fine right!?

My now adult son was often the last to be collected. I remember one Christmas he was the only child there all afternoon on the last day. He actually loved all the attention he got. I spent years feeling guilty in hind sight it did him no harm. Don't worry dc don't remember and don't care its the mum guilt that causes this, I wish I had worried so much about it now.

DS was quite frequently the last one. He got a lot of attention from the staff so rarely wanted to leave! We weren’t late but other parents were able to get there earlier than us

Was he distressed? Or was he being looked after, and entertaining himself.
Someone has to be the last one, if they know you will come, they usually just potter along until you show up with no concern.

As long as he isn't the last child every day it's fine. He won't remember.

Last due to just picking up within their opening hours or last because of being late ?

mine is often last - as my work finish time is close to nursery finish time so literally get there 10 minutes before closing. But I can’t feel guilty about that - he has to be in nursery because I’m at work
