I have watched all 3 episodes. I worked on the frontline during Covid. I found it very triggering and my fury is back.

Not an anti-vaxxer thanks. Insulting someone online you know nothing about isn't the good look you think it is.

I'm not NHS (teacher) and I found it triggering. There's so much I've blocked.

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 21:42

The anti vaxxer rhetoric in the press while i was trying to access the second vaccine (took four goes) and an old schoolfriend of mine was told she would have to travel to London for hers felt a bit gaslighty tbh

@Jumpingthruhoops its not really clear why you are so focused on this one thing. People actually know now that the government were having cheese and wine parties while also instructing police to arrest people who broke bubble rules, so why are nurses who might have been together in the staff room on a break or before/after their shift and made a quick pick me up video so important to you? They were not dancing around peoples ventilators and were probably just trying to find some kind of mental relief or escapism from what was going on. The reason people gave free food was because they felt helpless and didn’t know how else to help or show support. They just wanted to show their support that’s all it was. I also explained that not all hospitals are A&E’s or ITU’s and a lot of staff were not deployed to wards for various reasons so there were a lot of NHS estate buildings very quiet. I know a lot of teleconsults were taking place so perhaps these nurses were calling patients all day on the phone and doing their paid work but also got breaks

We we told hospitals were overwhelmed, which was keeping different areas of the country in lockdown. Then videos were being posted of the dancing and of hospitals not looking remotely overwhelmed.
It's since been explained why this may have been - but at the time, when millions of people up and down the country were going stir crazy being confined to their homes, you can maybe understand why seeing these videos raised questions - questions that judging by the responses on the thread we're still not allowed to ask!

Neither is questioning people's personal experiences because you saw a tiktok video.

I dont agree with all the things that @Jumpingthruhoops has posted but how do you know she was safe at home Do you know her personally?

Setting aside the condescending of your post, I'm more than happy to answer your questions.

What was I doing? I was working from home. Officially, 10-7 but as I was at home I'd tend to maybe keep working until about 9.

Once I logged off, I'd look on social media (not TikTok) for a bit, watch TV, have dinner then go to bed. Like most people I imagine. Couldn't do any hobbies as we were in lockdown. But I certainly didn't work 24 hours. No one did. Not even NHS staff.

If I did work for an NHS hospital, though, I can tell you that the last thing I'd want to do after (or indeed during?) an exhausting 12+hr shift, is hang around the hospital to learn a TikTok dance!

Hope that answers your MANY questions.

@JenniferBooth

Poor love was working from home.

Damnloginpopup · 21/02/2024 21:59

Thank you.

That's not enough, but it's all I have.

Too soon, too raw for me to contemplate watching.

it was fucking terrifying, we couldn’t access tests initially and I was sharing a house with an immunosuppressed transplant patient whilst working as a nurse through this.

Even this thread with @peakygold and @Jumpingthruhoops comments is too much for me.

Apologies, I honestly didn't mean to upset anyone.
But we also can't ignore the fact that people still have questions - some of which are now thankfully being answered via the Covid inquiry.
Please don't think I was left unscathed by the pandemic. In fact, I was seriously ill at one point (not covid) - if my 'care' had been left to the NHS hospital I was in, I'd most certainly be dead. So I am very interested in what was going on in hospitals at that time. And still am.

The problem isn’t so much you asking, as asking repeatedly, four years on, and still ignoring the answers and fixating on a few dozen people on TokTok.

I’ll ask again, do you think the frontline staff on here are lying about what happened?

@Cuppateafather
I see your lovely comment has since been deleted. That's a shame.
As you'll see from my previous post, I did need medical attention during covid. If my care had been left to the NHS, I'd be dead. So I'm very interested in what was - or indeed wasn't - going on in hospitals at that time. But I'm a disgusting person for merely asking questions? Respectfully, it's that attitude that's wrong with society! Have a good evening.

Mumof2NDers · 21/02/2024 22:21

My DF passed from cancer, alone in hospital in Feb 21. I will never stop being angry about politicians partying whilst people were dying without family with them.

CloudyYellow · 21/02/2024 22:22

I am afraid that the video I saw made me really angry and I was frontline NHS. I knew there would be a backlash and give some people an excuse to question what was going on in hospitals. The staff in the video were not reading the mood of the country.

Thanks love! Plenty more where that came from don't worry.

Maybe you shouldn't shit on people risking their lives day in day out to help you yeah?

I don't think front line staff were lying, no.
But the govt wanted to ensure mass compliance and pushed whatever message via the NHS that was necessary to achieve that.
