Posting for traffic as we desperately need a double pushchair that can fit in the overhead airplane compartment.
We are doing a long haul flight with a transit with 2 young DC and need the pushchair with us all the time rather than putting it in hold .

Is there anything that you can think of that fits the bill ?

The DC will be just turned 3 and 4.8 at the time of flying .
The 4.8yr old is Autistic, non verbal and will either run/escape/refuse to walk/throw himself on the floor / have sensory overload etc and is unable to queue, follow instructions etc.

We will both be going, so two compact singles are a good option. The 2x BabyZenYOYO is quite expensive but would 2 x something like this do the job ?

As for the kind person, concerned that we would be taking up too much space . Believe me, I would rather not have needed to travel with a pram for my nearly 5 year old but he is disabled and I have to keep him safe somehow . He will be a paying customer, like anyone else so I don't see how using his overhead compartment for a lightweight pram takes from other customers?
Surely they too will have space above their head if they are paying for a seat ?

Hey come on that really was a bit of a drip feed. You didn't say it was for a child with special needs of course your circumstances are different to those with a baby and a toddler for example. Plenty of people know the sorts of families I'm talking about most of us have been those families ourselves.

I am certain you qualify for special assistance so why don't you just do that? That will make it all a lot less stressful.

I think that trying to get up / down the plane steps with 2 buggies, 2 kids (neither of which are tiny babies that you can carry easily) and your hand luggage is going to be really hard indeed.

As others have advised you should be entitled to special assistance so contact them. I also think that the 3 year old should be fine if you check in his / her buggy. They should be able to walk whilst holding a hand. That would reduce your need to carry quite so much.
