Who is BU about the chip?

Person A has been making lunch, including air fryer chips. They dish up, then realise they’ve given themself too many, so redistribute a bit and put the plates on the table.

Person B comes down for lunch. They turn their back for a second and when they turn round again they spot Person A removing a chip from their plate.

Person B is furious that A has been “sneaky” and stolen one of their rightful chips.

Person A argues that they’d overcorrected when dishing up and gave B a lot more, hence the chip removal.

Person B carries on seething for nearly 24 hours. They argue that they always give A the bigger portion, so why wouldn’t A do the same for them?

Person A says they do give B the bigger portion, that this was a minor rebalancing and until everyone’s actually sitting at the table, the food is still under the cook’s control.

Who is BU in this incredibly petty dispute?

So B comes into the room, identifies his plate which contains more chips than anyone else's, sees A taking a chip from it, kicks off and sulks all day?

I'm so glad I'm single.

What did poor C ever do to you? She is blameless in this ugly business.

Chips! D, E and F would have been subject to the "fork" if they'd dared to show their faces, but no! Actually, C didn't either, funnily enough! 🤔 They must have heard the "forkgate" rumours! Ha! 😁

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 14/02/2024 13:56

B needs to get a grip but it seems a pretty humourless household. I think C should move out.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 14/02/2024 14:09

@Kartoffelschmerz both A and B should go back to nursery till an adult comes to collect them!

Watchthedoormat · 14/02/2024 14:11

I think YOU are the unreasonable one for posting such shite.
Seriously

MamaGhina · 14/02/2024 14:23

I hope person A used tongs.

Person A is unreasonable. They served up. They can’t then decide to even up the portions. Especially in front of B.

whathappenedno · 14/02/2024 14:23

Why is B touching As food? I don't like my food being stroked but I'd get over it quickly

Ceàrdaman · 14/02/2024 14:29

oh for goodness sake - the only thing worse than this petty squabble is the bullshit person A, B rubbish etc

Kartoffelschmerz · 14/02/2024 14:32

How would you write it, @Ceàrdaman , if you wanted to try to give as neutral an account as possible?

@Watchthedoormat Are you unfamiliar with AIBU? It’s the home of petty grievances.

Chips at lunch? Woah...

Edited

You dont need to be neutral

"I was dishing up dinner and DH upset me"

"DH was dishing up dinner and I got upset"

"My DM was dishing up dinner and DF got upset"

Person A person B is just painful and annoying

scaredofff · 14/02/2024 14:56

I don't think there were enough chips to start with so A is unreasonable for not cooking more

Tinkerbyebye · 14/02/2024 14:59

A and B both need to grow up

Beautiful3 · 14/02/2024 15:25

I think it's just chips. Forget it and move on.

Ponderingwindow · 14/02/2024 15:31

I would want to know why the cook isn’t making bigger portions if the allocation of food is leading to this kind of squabbling.

InnocentAndDeranged · 14/02/2024 15:33

The only appropriate response would have been for B to stand and throw their plate in A's face.

DoILookThrilled · 14/02/2024 15:34

Person b. Especially as they had lunch made for them

Kartoffelschmerz · 14/02/2024 15:35

Person A made a fuckload of chips. There were seconds.

I cannot imagine scrapping with someone over an air fryer chip tbh, now a chippy chip would be a different story obviously.

IggOrEgg · 14/02/2024 15:38

That was embarrassing to read! I can’t believe these people are actual adults 😂 B was an unreasonable greedy twat. A didn’t really do much wrong apart from giving this ridiculousness headspace.

wellington77 · 14/02/2024 15:38

children argue over the amount of chips they get. There needs to be a lot of growing up from the person angry about chips being removed after 24hrs. I’d hate to know what their anger is like over something actually valid

Flottie · 14/02/2024 16:23

Do people really argue over this??? Seriously

Ohnoooooooo · 14/02/2024 16:30

Both - its so petty that they are both being unreasonable

Frogger17 · 14/02/2024 16:31

Both sound like they have a chip on their shoulder about this 🤣🤣🤣

Jesus.

Interesting theory. Would Jesus be A or B in this scenario? Wink
