If you were to meet any Mumsnetter, who would it be?

And in what capacity? So it could be someone you just think seems really nice, and you could chat and have tea together. Or someone fun for drinks and going out. Somebody with whom you'd like to have a good debate and set the world to rights. A Mumsnetter you'd like to go shopping with, as you like the sound of their style. Or a wise, kindly soul whose advice you would unashamedly seek! An ideal dinner party guest, perhaps?
Looking forward to reading your replies (have name-changed though, as it just felt a bit awkward using my own!). I must confess to being shockingly unobservant when it comes to names on here, even if I have received some wonderful replies and perspectives over the years.

Let the unmumsnetty love commence! Grin

Anyone on a six figure salary! 😆

Or the ones that are a size 8 just from doing Pilates. I've taught Pilates- that would take a lot of Pilates :) Unless they also don't eat much.

I don’t know, @UsefulUsername, but it is bugging me too 😂 Unfortunately, I really ought to be doing other things rather than wasting time on MN… You could probably find out if you searched the Oxbridge and Medicine threads on Higher Education. One of her brood did medicine at Oxford, I think. If you do, come back and tell us 😂

@DahliaMacNamara it seems tales about pearl and glass bead necklaces are more common than I thought 😂

Crocidura · Today 15:46

The other 'not Xenia' one is goodbyestranger I think, or something like that. Multiple children who have been to Oxford.

Yes it’s goodbyestranger, thanks @Crocidura I can’t believe all these years I thought they were the same person 😆

CrappySack · 17/02/2024 18:50

I'd like to meet the sea monster troll.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 17/02/2024 19:10

The thing with these threads is it's pretty much the same old-school names that pop up and I wonder if that's purely because they've kept that name which makes them memorable rather than any comments they've made?
I've been on here years but have name changed so many times, for-ahem 🤭, various reasons, that I literally cannot remember my original user name 🤣.
It is a bit fan girl too... Cringy.

My posts aren't showing up properly at my end.

I'd be too scared to meet a real life mumsnetter, I'm fat and common.
There's no hope for me.

I wanna meet you now :) I'm not skinny and relatively common. :)

Keeva2017 · 17/02/2024 21:40

@soontobe60 I notice her replies and think she would be an interesting person to talk to.

Oblomov24 · 17/02/2024 21:52

@Shithole101

It was fab. I definitely went 2009 and 2010 with Annielob. I'm not sure how many people were there, 50+. I think I went another year previously when Justine was there. I'm not good with names but Maureen was there, kbear, valpollicella.

That's pretty ace. Glad you enjoyed it 😊

I would love to meet another mumsnetter in their 50s or 60s here in Bath - I'm not Billy no mates but it's nearly always nice to meet new people and the friends I have here are quite a lot younger than me - which is great but sometimes it would be nice to know a few older women too (I'm 62- but def not old)

I used to love that lady who called everyone 'lass' would love to see what she actually looked and sounded like- she was as comforting as a cup of tea and a chocolate muffin

Someone once started a thread marvelling as to how/why MN employed over 100 staff. I should imagine the answer is that many are the aforementioned prevalent posters starting or posting on various, often controversial, threads.

That's an interesting theory actually.

SpringIsJustAboutSprung · 17/02/2024 22:30

Is there not a meet ups section? There used to be. The meet ups were always so much fun and putting names to faces was interesting.

A lot changed on here after a data leak or something, there was also a big hoo hah after a man was posting about his wife dying a few years ago, I can’t remember what it was but a lot of people were invested in the threads, I stayed off here for a while after that as there was another website or something set up - I couldn’t be bothered with the trolling or the drama tbh.

It would explain an awful lot.

We do know that "journalists" often start fake threads on here too. One of them once copy pasted the email from the editor with the brief into the OP and forgot to delete the additional commentary and sign-off. If only Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein could have reached such dizzy heights.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/02/2024 22:35

@MermaidEyes I actually met a mumsnet staffer strangely in our business centre - she was a software girly- quite young but didn't like working from home- we had a good chat about it and I told her how much I enjoyed it. She said she enjoyed working for them too

That would have been "steve"
SimplySteveReddux or something similar

He posted that he was disabled.
He posted his mobility scooter had been stolen at the supermarket (with a gofundme link). Mnhq deleted that thread because of the link, I think.
Then he posted that his wife was dangerously ill.
And then dead.
But as posters quickly noticed, he also posted (over time) that he'd donated 3 or maybe 4 kidneys
He had had a HUGE amount of sympathy and support until the kidney issue emerged

Then he sloped away. I think mnhq shut the door firmly after he chose to leave

Iirc

Dead wife was David and Caroline scammer. So bereaved he was sending pervy PMs to posters.
Steve was the one who donated 12 kidneys, all of which were his own.

I would have loved to meet Bluntness

Oh gosh yes! I think they are the only MN that I remember dominating threads - only because their advice was so sage and cut through the flack.

Iam4eels · 18/02/2024 00:44

A lot changed on here after a data leak or something

There was a massive data leak alongside some doxxing and some swatting which changed the face of MN quite a lot.
