My goodness this man is pure Partridge.

I'm sure they tell you they open the gym early for you ...

Also, spends all morning swanning around away from family, expects lunch ready on table at 12pm then at 1.30 "I like to spend time with my four year old son..", but not that much time as at 3pm he locks himself away for "total war saga". AIBU to ask if this would be tolerated by any other normal family ?!

Someone on twitter noted that it's just about readable and makes more sense if you say 'Parklife' after every sentence.

I have the same reaction to this as FarmGirl78 did!
👌👏🏻

A d also he's the older generation where I think men were out earning the bread and wife at home so he probably thinks 90 mins is a lot. And as pp says, it probably is compared to many. Sad as it is.

Not my hubby though. He's been up since 5am with a screaming baby and a 4yr old. So I should probably get up to help him now 🤣

Older generation? Are you serious? My husband and I are in our 50s and this man is 59. We were at university in the 90s. We are equal parents and far from elderly folk. We are way beyond the generation that expected women to stay home and put dinner on the table.

What is wrong with people who use age as an excuse for poor behaviour??? Even my eighty year old Dad can make his own lunch.

Biffbaff · 09/02/2024 17:46

It reminded me of the Orlando Bloom one. You know, where he had to lift weights in order to feel "really exhausted" by the end of the day despite having a baby. And then making sure he gets 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Twat.

I laughed out loud at "I check my sleep app to se if I've had a good nights sleep" how could he not know!?

And:

I eat red meat but find cows beautiful so I cant believe people eat them.

Disturbia81 · 10/02/2024 13:17

Well serves him right for going with much younger women. People hate you Gregg.

FuckingHellAdele · 10/02/2024 13:19

He's crying into his wife's white bean soup RIGHT NOW you heartless bastards

WiddlinDiddlin · 10/02/2024 16:14

Somewhere, some copywriter is getting a bollocking that was passed through Greggs PA to his Agent to the Telegraph and so on... 'You've made me look an UTTER ARSEHOLE'...

And some copywriter is sniggering to themselves 'I know... ' and his agent and PA are standing well back, lobbing sausages at Gregg to keep him at bay whilst trying to point out that it is at least keeping him current.

This seems very on brand

Christ, what a wanker.
This in itself makes him look like a prize cunt.

Startyabastard · 10/02/2024 16:32

My post is referring to Wallace being racist about the woman's name.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 10/02/2024 16:35

Nobody believes these celebrities all get up in the middle of the night to exercise and meditate. Utter bollocks, and PR.

FillFall · 10/02/2024 16:36

Here I am defending him again 😅. I don't see anything wrong at all with saying that you only want a kid if you are also going to get help in. He has the money to do it so what's wrong with it. I didn't work when my kids were little but at times I had a cleaner five mornings a week. It was brilliant and I feel fortunate that we could afford it.

I bet most people with an income such as his will have plenty of help in the home. It be unusual not to. So I really can't understand why so many posters are so outraged by it 🤷🏻‍♀️

peakygold · 10/02/2024 16:40

I didn't know Harvester did breakfast.

C00k · 10/02/2024 17:18

Vettrianofan · 10/02/2024 12:39

No I didn't see that bit. That's atrocious. But on the other hand at least he's being honest about how tough he finds it.

You still didn’t read it, then? He demanded the MIL moved in as a condition of him impregnating his current wife.

Not read it fully today as been busy. Not showing himself in a good light if it's true.

FillFall · 10/02/2024 17:36

@C00k
He demanded the MIL moved in as a condition of him impregnating his current wife

He didn't say that though. He said he didn't want a kid unless they had help. Which isn't unreasonable. Lots of people have help in the home even when they don't have kids 🤷🏻‍♀️
He has written plenty of things that are cringe worthy so there is no need to make things up.

StarTwirl · 10/02/2024 17:47

He doesn't really bother me because he's not someone that takes up any space in my mind other than when I see him on Masterchef

He provides a home for his family, let's his MIL live in, knows how to compartmentalise his life to deal with what must be very difficult having a severely autistic child

It allows him and his wife to be there 24/7 for their child as they wish

I presumed the gym would be staffed anyway before it opens by someone opening it up so I'm sure if Gregg is there regularly he isn't in the way or inconveniencing anyone

He needs his head space so plays his historical game

Who cares what he does in one contrived day in a newspaper article

It's just not that deep really

SausageRollsWithMustard · 10/02/2024 17:54

I hadn't read the article so thanks for sharing it.

Christ how utterly self-unaware.

You what?

<scrolls back to find out whether he generously sired this child aged 145 and he's actually a remarkable human being>

Nope.

Just a common or garden twat.

Whoopaday · 10/02/2024 18:07

That daily Mail article just makes him worse! Complaining about his me time, forgetting that his whole day is me time, he’s not counting the peaceful book reading in bed, coffee, gym time, breakfast out or early bed. His wife is parenting solo that whole time, but he only gets 2 hours me time to play computers.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 10/02/2024 18:10

Worra Wanker.

BobbyBiscuits · 10/02/2024 18:16

The more I think about it the more fuckery it is. He begrudgingly agreed to have another kid with his wife "because he loves her' (What a fucking trooper) But she's not allowed a career or a life of her own? She's probably banned from social media unless it's to promote his bloated desperately unconvincing looking 6 pack (of lager more like), and her Mum has to live/work there full time for no payment whether she has an identity and interests of her own or not. I'm glad he doesn't spend much time with his son actually, he'd be an appalling role model to any child.

BedZwift · 10/02/2024 18:19

I have no idea who he even is or what he’s famous for, but he sounds utterly insufferable

renthead · 10/02/2024 18:23

I'm not a Gregg Wallace fan, but I sort of admire his honesty. He didn't want a kid, these were his terms. If I had another child in my 50s I don't think I'd want to do the grunt work either! I suspect this setup is actually extremely common with "second families".

Also he is happy to have his MIL live with them. That would earn most men a lot of brownie points on MN.

RobertaFirmino · 10/02/2024 18:30

He sounds a tosser but I have similar contempt for his wife in all fairness. You'd want your child to be wanted by both parents, surely? Agreeing to all sorts of terms and conditions just so she could have a child. Why not leave and find a man who actually did want one? Seems to me like she's chosen a financially comfortable life over giving her boy a dad who actually wanted him.

You mean the man who was a single dad with sole custody of his children for many years?

I mean don't get me wrong I think he's a complete twat but I'm pretty sure a man whose raised two children by himself knows 90 mins a day isn't a lot
