I bumped into an old neighbour I used to be friendly with, my eldest dc is in the same year as hers, they go different schools, but always got on when playing out together which is how we became friendly.
Anyway, my youngest dc is a few months old now and she had a look in the pram and asked her name and when I told her she said, "that's lovely, I wouldn't have thought you'd use a name like that", so I asked her why not and she said, "Oh I'd have just expected something a bit chavvy, but it's very classic".

So in true British fashion I thanked her. What a fucking pleb I am 😂

I'd have assumed she was just thoughtlessly judgemental and had no filter as who would bother pre planning a convoluted put down like that. Thank you is the perfect response, comments like that reveal only about the person who said them, you don't have to accept the invitation to every argument! I'd keep her around as a real life Amanda from Motherland.

😂😂😂 If someone pushes past you in the street do you immediately say, "oops, sorry!" Even if it was 100% them because I do without fail 🙈

It's so British isn't it? Like apologising to a burglar that you haven't tided before they broke in.

I bloody thanked her.

I've apologised to a door frame for bumping into it.

I think you should at least pronounce your DD's name as Ellee-ann-oar.

I think you should clarify that it's spelled
L-E-AnnOr. Or L-AnOr, your choice.

I think your reply was brilliantly passive aggressive.

I think your reply was brilliantly passive aggressive.

Oh I wish. Surely you need some sass for that? 😂

I'd have done the same OP.

Sorry and thank you just pop out of my mouth too!

I think you should rush up to her next time you see her, tap her on the shoulder and say ''Chavvy? CHAVVY?!?!? Wtf do you mean chavvy??''

like it's taken you all this time to pop! 😅

DP suggested we spell Eleanor as L-yn-aa so we're lwrenn and Lynaa. Fly our chav flag high 😂
