Just that really off the back of a lot of threads but most recently one where multiple people were adamant that the only way it’s possible to have no savings if you have salaries of £200k plus unless one of the couple is squirrelling savings.

Followed up with how do they pay for a broken down car with savings? Hasn’t even dawned on them that people on those salaries don’t have cars that are breaking down.

Is it so hard to believe that money literally eliminates money worries? That you can create a level of security that means savings and such aren’t needed?

No chance. I’m going to sleep.

So none of it will ever be explained!

The reason for OP’s nonsense ramblings are starting to make sense now.

Stoned, napping, sleeping all the time. There is some bigger issue here. This thread is just the ramblings of an unwell person, perhaps an addict.

addict? Recovering from surgery? Same same eh 😉

Sounds like a you problem. I’ve been vaguely amused throughout the day. Tomorrow I shall (🤞🏻🤞🏻) be discharged so no amusement needed.

I’m on morphine. So yeah, the attention given to grammar and spelling on MUMSNET is limited. Because it’s Mumsnet.

Well you’re making no sense, it’s literally gibberish.

Mrs Valentine was on another thread this week giving advice but then acting confused due to being autistic. That may well be the case but it was a dangerous topic to comment on without experience of LGBTQ matters. I am not into searching through posters history (I've had it done to me) but perhaps the lady is not British hence the language usage and lack of knowledge re the law in the UK.
I posted up thread but even on big bucks I don't feel wealthy. I have too much history of unemployment and losing everthing in the crash. I also don't tell people what I earn as most don't understand.
Would they do 15 hour days? Ah no. So it's all relative. Two years more and I'm done. Hopefully to retire 'wealthy' whatever that means.

Unbeknownsty · 28/01/2024 17:51

I hope you recover quickly, OP.

With or without savings 😂

coldcallerbaiter · 28/01/2024 17:52

What OP possibly means is that she is not wealthy. Wealthy is someone who can live comfortably
without needing to work. This could mean as low as a couple who own their own house outright and have idk £2 million generating life long income that allows for inflation. It can be in savings in the bank or in lower risk investments, buy to let, etc Or pensions, if they are over 55.

I’m literally stoned. But happy for you to make those assumptions. It has no impact on me at all.

Yes dear. That much has been evident for a while. You are in for a surprise when you re-read your posts after you come down off your cloud.

Get well soon. Flowers

I was not confused at all on that thread thank you. I wasn’t entirely sure of the point that was being made, I suspect that was because my views and the views of the other were entirely incompatible with eachother.

Also - that’s weird that you’ve gone trawling back through old posts.

She clearly just makes it up as she goes along. The story is spun based on whatever PP are asking or saying.

OP is either a fantasist, bullshitter or psychologically unwell.

I think when posters are very inconsistent and contradict themselves on a thread, as you have done on this one, people do get suspicious and do a search. I can never be bothered, but I get that some do want to spot trolls and this is a very vague, nonsensical, goady sort of thread so not really that strange that someone's gone looking.

Scaredbunny · 28/01/2024 18:00

@Alcyoneus indeed.

Or alternatively it’s a pile on of people who have no idea what I’m talking about? Saw an income they don’t have and the teeth teeth out? Another day in the life of Mumsnet?

Do you remember when GNVQs came out, and the gov.uk website declared them equivalent to 3 A-levels.

Employers, universities, recruiters, everyone:

"Sorry, they are in no way equivalent to 3 A-levels and we won't recognise as such"

People doing GNVQs:

"They ARE. It says so on the website"

Everyone:

"Ok, but no-one else will recognise th..."

GNVQs:

"They are!"

Eh - it’s called marriage, they are now joint assets......it’s how it works in the UK.

Ring fenced by trusts? Presumably of which you are a beneficiary - but the court can pierce it. I think it’s some Act from the 70s or something.

OP - you are too funny! You have been so entertaining today!

Scaredbunny · 28/01/2024 18:06

@DownByTheLakes i only looked due to the name. It's very distinctive. I was at school with a valentine.
I have changed mine recently due to a few odd posters. I have a lgbtq family member and certainly don't post with my twenty year+ old MN name. It's a very difficult subject.

Enjoy the happy meds OP.

No, that's a misrepresentation. You've directly contradicted yourself throughout the thread. It's not an attack on someone wealthy, it's been a thread of people arguing that your original contention is wrong and you being totally unable to counter that.

No - I suggest you do a tiny bit of research on marriage. It’s more than possible to have pre marital assets ring fenced.

That said I am not concerned and wouldn’t do that to him anymore than he would to me. It is not something I remotely concerned about.

The wealthy people I know don't have cash savings but they do have tens of thousands in their current account! Because what would be cash savings level of cash to normal people is just spending money to them. Plus they have assets across a diverse portfolio including property, stocks and shares, etc. They don't have pensions because they simply have passive income, which will continue their whole lives, and they don't have salaries because of the same reason. Or if they do their salaries aren't their main source of income.

as to know what your DH May or may not do and as to what a judge May or may not decide!!!

you are so naive - I love it.

Read the thread - that counts as savings. My position is exactly that of the people you know, I don’t count our spending money as savings. Which is part of the reason this thread has spanned lord knows how many pages. Because what some on Mumsnet consider to be savings is a far wider net than what I consider to be savings.
