To not wash the inside of my vagina?

First AIBU so please be nice! There is a huge debate going on on twitter where people are horrified that some women wear tampons in the shower (it seems to be the majority of the many women responding to the tweets who are horrified). They claim it’s unsanitary because then you can’t wash inside your vagina. I thought we weren’t supposed to do this? I’m sure I had this drummed into me as a child. I never have and have never had an infection. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?!

You have to find the right soap though. I learnt the hard way not to use original source tea tree shower gel 😱

The mint and tea tree one is very tingly in all the right ways.

2000 years of human civilisation and we're still debating this topic, it's fascinating

I'm surprised people don't rinse blood out. You don't power wash, you hold the shower head downwards and use your hands if necessary. Blood won't immediately drip when you get out if you do this.

However, you can only speak for yourself and your own experience of your own menstrual flow. Period blood smells like blood and only smells bad when it oxidises, ie leaves the body. I'm another one who wore a tampon in the shower, wash the vulva and then insert a clean tampon before getting out. Not hard to either do or understand.... Of course, if you didn't have heavy periods then you wouldn't understand the inconvenience of them..

🤣🤣🤣 That's made my day!!! Off to sort that out now, I don't want to be found lacking in the pee pipe cleanliness department!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

For a proper pee pipe clean, you really need one of those Waterpik thingies.

BashfulClam · 27/01/2024 15:40

You are all disgusting, I sluice mine with zoflora and boiling water and use a scrubbing brush up there!

Actually I only rinse the outer area and ‘undercarriage’ with warm water. Husband had never had any issue.

Kittybythelighthouse · 27/01/2024 15:44

@Jumpingthruhoops Do you give yourself a colonic during every shower too?

Kittybythelighthouse · 27/01/2024 15:50

@Jumpingthruhoops menstruation isn’t ‘bleeding’ in the same way that we bleed when we have a cut and are losing blood from our vascular systems. That’s why we don’t die. We aren’t losing blood from our vascular system. Menstruation is when the blood rich lining of the womb is discarded by the body because there was no fertilised ovum to gestate. I literally asked my mum the same question “won’t I die if I bleed for a week?” when I was 11. I cannot believe that a supposed adult woman would not know this.

No. Are you always so nasty to strangers on the internet?

I know what it is thanks. 'Supposed?' CF...

Poor old @Jumpingthruhoops is lying in their manky bath filled with poo particles and snot after sticking a flannel up their nose and butt, declaring us all unhygienic!

I'm really not. Can I ask a genuine question: Do you know why these threads always descend into bullying?

Rosinda · 27/01/2024 17:47

@chaosmaker I've had heavy periods, I just take the tampon out when I'm the shower, rinse and flow pauses for a short while. Menstrual cups are much better though, highly recommend.

Goes without saying that we're all different. Every one of us is speaking from our own perspective.

I don't think a lot of people are as bothered with how she attacks her wanny as they are her other bizarre unscientific comments.

What are you talking about FFS!? 'Unscientific'!? I am able to stop my flow momentarily - as someone else on here has highlighted is perfectly possible.

Just because YOU can't, doesn't mean we all can't. You really need to stop projecting your inadequacies onto others.

darkmodeera · 27/01/2024 12:50

it doesn't matter how good your pelvic floor muscles are, once you've got a right proper bleed on it'll just gush out when the vagina is completely full anyway. This thread has gone really fucking weird,😂

It's gone weird because can't accept a different experience or way of doing things.

He's trolling.

Saying 'he's trolling' when you know full well I'm a female IS actually trolling.

Now did you have anything useful to contribute?

We're not bullying. Just inwardly laughing or being annoy-ified and lightly expressing it.

chaosmaker · 27/01/2024 19:39

Jumpingthruhoops · 26/01/2024 11:54

Not 'confused' at all. Just find this whole thread quite bizarre.

No one bleeds 24/7 for days on end. And if they do, I'd suggest 'to tampon, or not tampon' is the least of their worries.

Yes, they do and that's when you have to go to the doctor to see what's wrong!

I believe you're a female who could benefit from improving your knowledge of basic biology and reasoning skills. I hope this thread has helped.

But of course none of us can know full well that anyone is female with anyone online. It's the internet.

Since I'm on the recieving end of it, I'm telling you that's exactly what you're doing. Nothing 'inwardly' about it; you are having a laugh at my expense just because I've provided an alternative view. That's bullying.

Though, should it really suprise me that people who don't wash properly, would be vile on the inside too...? 🤔

Yeah, not my people... 🤷‍♀️

I don't need to improve anything thanks, least of all biology and reasoning. Surely it's those who don't know how to engage in adult discourse with people whose opinions differ who are the ones that need to learn about reasoning?

I also have a full understanding of my body, thanks, and what it's capable of. If anything, it's those letting their periods take over their lives who need a better understanding of how things work, because they're clearly missing something.

All this thread has taught me is that many women don't wash properly and that their periods are literally the end of the fucking world.

It's been... illuminating.

@Jumpingthruhoops off you trot. Back down t'pub with your mates.

But we do need to wash the outer part with a bit of shower gel though to get rid of odour . Not a lot of gel and definitely not inside but just gently with mainly water and a bit of shower gel on outside surely ?

Not with shower gel (unless you can get a completely non scented mild one and I’ve missed it). Water is generally enough, or something like ‘simple’ soap… but soap is nearly always alkaline, so it interferes with the slightly acidic environment of the vagina.

lisalisa · 27/01/2024 22:15

Such a sensitive topic but here goes …. If you only use water to wash there don’t you detect odour if you touch yourself ?
when dh touches I want his fingers not to smell bad and surely there is some at least slightly unpleasant odour without washing ? Get that everyone’s body’s are different but I would think that with how we urinate and if we have and don’t get rid of pubic hair there’s bound to be odour if no shower gel is used ?

ThinWomansBrain · 27/01/2024 22:16

Reading with amazement
then this ad popped up in the missile of the thread😂
clearly washing won't do - full sterilisation required

To not wash the inside of my vagina?

This is the maddest thing I’ve ever heard.

Is it a joke?

Are they definitely talking about inside the vagina? 😵‍💫
