It wasn't supposed to be windy in London tonight.

Is it just my street? no warnings at all, but far stronger wind than Isha two nights ago. More damage already, more noise, more banging. AIBU to be a bit bewildered by all this? We got hit hard by Hank recently, no warning at all, and multiple trees down/roads closed and disruption. What is happening now?

V windy in Herts too

hellywelly3 · 24/01/2024 01:02

Definitely a lot worse tonight near York. Our power has just come back on after being off for over 2 hours. The noise is really scary

TiptoeTess · 24/01/2024 01:03

It’s woken me in Essex, it’s much noisier than the last storm was!

Howyoualldoworkme · 24/01/2024 01:03

Surprisingly windy in Hampshire. Just as loud and fierce as Isha!

I'm up anyway but I was thinking it was a lot noisier than Isha. Depends on direction etc I guess.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 24/01/2024 01:14

It sounds pretty bad here too and we're only on a yellow warning. I've heard my recycling bin go down. I'll have to wait till the morning and see if any more roof tiles have come off. Not that I can see on top of the roof but I'll be able to tell if any more have smashed onto the floor. Just hope if they do they fall forward into the front garden and not sideways onto my car. Thankfully there's no trees round here and the one in next doors garden is shielded by my fence. Although that's more of a bush than a tree.

KyleWalkersLibido · 24/01/2024 01:27

Very windy here tonight, certainly noiser than Isha. I am waiting to see what the storm fairy brings me, kids are hoping for a trampoline to appear. Isha brought us someone else’s recycling, and a man’s medium size T-shirt, complete with one peg.

glittercunt · 24/01/2024 01:31

Proper whooshing tonight in Gwent.

Beepbopadooda · 24/01/2024 01:38

Midlands here. Isha barely touched us, this sounds much worse.

Creekgo · 24/01/2024 01:39

Got a amber warning tonight and had red the other night, can hear the wind but it’s not bad compared to the other day, not worried about trees, roof etc tonight

BetiYeti · 24/01/2024 01:43

South west and it’s quite a storm. Can’t sleep - it’s noisy, lots of banging and crashing outside and I heard a siren not long ago. A tree came down tonight across a main road by me, luckily no one was injured. I’d say it’s worse than storm Isha here.

Clarabell24 · 24/01/2024 02:23

I'm with you OP and understand what you're saying. Weather warnings were on Amber for Isha and it wasn't that bad. But no weather warnings for London currently and I'm pretty sure my fence has just gone....too dark to see!

Wonder what the threshold is for giving an area a warning? Because I can't see how we didn't meet it, given the noise outside. It's howling out there!

captaincalamari12 · 24/01/2024 02:39

East Midlands here and it's awful. Far worse than Sunday night

MamaBearsss · 24/01/2024 02:39

I can’t sleep the bedroom windows are so creaky

thegreylady · 24/01/2024 02:45

I can’t sleep it is much worse than Isha. I am quite scared.

FlappyFish · 24/01/2024 02:50

It’s woken me up it’s so loud in Berkshire. Whilst we knew it was coming , we didn’t actually have any weather warnings here.

DeltaCity01 · 24/01/2024 02:52

someones on the weather machine at darpa, that said stay safe all with the weather its certainly omg at the moment

Goatymum · 24/01/2024 03:13

Isha blew away after a couple of hours, this is endless and I woke up at 2 and haven’t gone back to sleep.

Porridgeislife · 24/01/2024 03:30

In Bucks and this is much windier than Isha. Regretting putting my recycling out last night 😬

catwithflowers · 24/01/2024 03:39

Northumberland and very windy here, worse than the last storm which brought down one of our Scot's Pine trees 😬

BananaSplitsss · 24/01/2024 04:21

Surrey here and it’s woken me up on and off all night. It’s very loud and lots of bangs.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 24/01/2024 04:55

KnickerlessParsons · 23/01/2024 23:04

I think it's further south than forecast. It's windy in Wiltshire too, unexpectedly so.

It’s really rough here in north Wiltshire, the wind is howling through the woods behind us 😳

notknowledgeable · 24/01/2024 05:23

time to go out and inspect the damage...

OP posts:
Igneococcus · 24/01/2024 05:33

Worse than even Isha here, coastal Argyll&Bute. My dormer is creaking like never before.

mrskimsneakattack · 24/01/2024 05:50

South Wales...last night seemed far worse than Sunday, the noise was horrendous. I was expecting it to be windy from the forecast but not as bad as it was! Been awake since 3am 😭
