AIBU to think these nursery illnesses are taking the piss?

DD (nearly 1) started nursery 3 months ago. I knew and expected illnesses, I didn’t however expect so much and so many serious illnesses - she is my first so I wanted to know whether this is ‘normal’ and I’m being precious or whether this is a lot.

Illnesses so far
5 x colds
1 x glandular fever (which I am still suffering with!)
4 x D&V bugs
1x RSV (which was serious, required hospital treatment and DD was on a feeding tube for 3 days!)
2 x HF&M
1 x tonsillitis
1 x COVID (was tested)
1 x scarlet fever
1 x ringworm

she hasn’t had one full week (and she only does a 3 day week, was only 2 days the first month as well) since she started. Most of these illnesses DH and I then get, which is causing a lot of issues work wise as well (I have not had a full week back from mat leave since coming back too) for both of us.

AIBU to think this is a lot?

would putting her with a childminder make it less likely she’d get ill? Or would it not make a difference 😩

@peppapigpeppa she is on the 50th percentile line for weight (always has been), drinks well, eats a lot (also varied, although sometimes at nursery because they don’t feed them manually she does sometimes just eat her carbs instead of the meat etc. of the meal)

I’ll look into a different probiotic, as she has been taking one for the past 9 months but maybe it’s not a good one

Tbh my son was the same. I think it's child dependent. A bit is expected but this is alot.

He was in nursery for 3 months, and was only not sick a handful of days. In the end I pulled him out and had a really good setup with a local childminder /nanny.

He just needed a bit more time to develop his immunity.

He is now 5 and much more resilient.

Mix up the probiotics they all have different strains, we switch between biogaia and optibac on advice from my DCs dietician.

I really feel for you, you must be exhausted. Illness is the worst part of parenting especially when you get it too.

@QuiltedHippo thank you for this, we use the optibac so will try the other one

My DD started nursery in July and the sickness has been relentless since October (summer months was just colds) but not nearly as bad as you describe. We have had 4 fevers which each lasted almost a week (one with added vomiting and chest infection), one vomiting bug and one viral rash which only required being checked by the GP before going to nursery. Lots of colds and coughs too but have lost track of those.
