To wonder how they afford to stay at home?

I follow lots of mum accounts on Tiktok. They are mainly younger mums ranging from 20-30. Most (not all) stay at home or only work extremely part time, have two or three kids, seem to have a lovely home & two brand new cars on the drive and are constantly filming packing for holiday and day out videos.

It’s nothing against them at all, it’s nice that they can have the freedom to do those things and have such lifestyles. AIBU to wonder how they manage it on one income at a younger age? It’s one thing if you ‘have it all’ in your mid 30s or 40s as you have probably worked very hard to establish yourself or your other half could be a very big earner. Maybe it’s just not reflective of real life… or I don’t know!

Ignore people saying you're jealous. Most people work their butts off and only manage to scrap a living nowadays. These are the people I admire, not some pampered princesses who, frankly, have nothing very intelligent to say.

I had lots of guilt about this when watching influencer SAHM’s perfect lives and then I realised that they are selling their children’s privacy to make an income. Makes it look much less glamorous when you realise that they are happy putting the intimate details of their child’s life online for anyone (best case scenario is future friends, bullies, potential employers and worst case paedophiles) to see.

Im much happier in my mundane life, working and with no trace of my child online until she makes that decision for herself.

Nasty responses, OP was asking a question not being jealous at all.
Bear in mind some may work pt, you don't get a real view of their life.

@Era

If you could be bothered to read my post properly, I said £2000 a month MINIMUM from instagram and youtube combined. Sometimes 2-3 times more - depending on how many views their posts and 'videos' get, and sometimes even more than that. ALSO, lots of money from promotions and advertising and modelling. Can be 10 to 15 grand a month SOME months. Sometimes more.

Yeah it's not millions, but don't tell me THAT is not a decent amount, along with their normal job and their partners wage too of £55K to £70K a year.

They also get 1000s of £££ worth of freebies from various companies too, which adds to their income!

Try reading peoples posts properly in future, before responding.

Grin Calm down love. As I said every penny helps but my point was that most don’t earn that much. Even if someone earns £5,000 a month every month that’s only £60k a year. Not to be sniffed at of course but not the vast fortunes people think and not enough to support a glamorous lifestyle.

My friend is a known influencer and if you watch daytime tv magazine type programmes you may have seen her doing slots. She doesn’t earn vast sums. Just like my other friend who is a BBC newsreader (not prime time), also doesn’t make what you would expect.

High earning husband, I’ve not worked more than 3 hours a day since 2013.
