14k, even on my wfh days as I'll walk to the supermarket at some point.
Was 23k yesterday after a run, town and tidying all day.

It varies quite a bit - because I don't wear a smartwatch my steps indoors don't get counted, but I do try to get at least one half hour brisk walk most days (unless weather really really bad - eg a gale), and often do more than one walk/walk for longer. I swim regularly too, so do sometimes walk a bit less on a day where I've pushed it in the pool.
I use the exercise bike if I really cannot get out/to the pool.
Moving at all is better than not, and building up gradually and realistically is much better than starting with a burst and then getting fed up.

If I wasn't trying to keep moving, it would probably be about 3000 as my job is sedentary and I often work from home. As it is, I consciously get it to 10000 by going on three walks a day (before work, lunchtime and after work) to try and mitigate the damage done by being inactive so many hours each day!

Looking at my Fitbit data from last year my average is just shy of 13000 a day. It’s more on weekdays because I walk the school run. It’s not completely accurate because I don’t wear my watch for the first or last hour or so of my day and do quite a lot in that time, up and down stairs, putting a wash on, emptying dishwasher, getting kids ready, making beds, tidying house etc. I also didn’t wear my watch for 2 weeks on holiday so August is way lower than it actually was. But it’s a good indicator. I don’t feel right if I don’t get the morning walk in for whatever reason.

If you’re only doing 1000 a day at the moment don’t try to do 10000 or whatever, just up it slightly to begin with then increase again when you get used to it.

I don't measure steps but I would say on average I walk 2- 6 miles a day, it can be as much as 10 on a weekend.

Is 1000 a typo? I am on 500 already and it’s 8.50am. I drove the kids to swimming and am sitting outside the pool. I don’t track steps because it’s not a good indication of fitness. But yesterday I did over 10000 and I didn’t go for any walks.

I do about 10,000 each day (which pretty much all come from taking my dog for a walk). I’m very sedentary other than that

Between 10,000 and 16,000 a day. There will be the odd day each week where I'll do less (say 6000). Walking 10,000 + steps a day has made a big difference to my weight, sleep, mental health. I'd recommend increasing your steps. Start walking to places you'd usually drive to when possible - work, school, shops, kids activities, having a lunchtime walk etc. Once it becomes part of your routine, you don't even think about it.

I do about 20-30k a day between my job and exercise and I’m quite overweight with a painful bunion and plantar fasciitis so it’s not really the be all and end all of good health!

Usually between 10000 & 12000 did just over 19000 yesterday. I have a dog who gets 2walks a day, before that I struggled to get to 6000 as only one walk a day.

It's rare that I don't hit 10k, but I'm on my feet all day when I'm at work, and I work 6 days a week. I'll have a walk on an evening if I think I haven't been very active

I average 13k a day. I wfh but have a very active 4 year old and do the school runs all by foot. I also make sure I get up at least once every hour to have a quick wander.

On the rare occasions I am in the office, I tend to do c30k.

Do you mean 10000 and not 1000?

Doing 1000 a day would surely be almost impossible. When I was really poorly with flu I managed over 2000 steps!

I do about 11,000 a day easily without thinking about it, then often 15,000 plus.

According to my Health app my average for the year was about 6000 a day. But that was very uneven - some days I was working on my laptop for long hours and only did 2000, whereas some weekend days I clocked 15,000....

15k. I aim for 100k per week.

I lost 3 stone 3 pounds over about six months in 2023 and this steps regime (along with gym and tennis and intermittent fasting) helped me do that.

I’m keeping it up because I’d like to lose another stone gradually over the next few months.

7000 per day running around the house (its big) doing chores etc. I go on walks to get my other 3000 steps in.

I've checked my stats and I managed 3k steps the day after I fractured my ankle wearing a boot, using crutches and lots of lying around with frozen peas on it.

I manage between 1500 and 2000. I used to do under a 1000 a day when I first WFH but I’ve made an effort to move every hour for a while and my mobility has improved.
