Feel free to say I am being unreasonable and tell me to mind my own business, it’s a genuine question though, I’m interested in finding out if the wealth divide really is as big as it’s portrayed in the media and/or if I’m losing touch with reality.
I’ll start, ours is 60k after tax, 2 working adults and 2 children and I’d consider us to be in the average range. TIA

Dustybear · 12/01/2024 22:06

£10,300 pa. state pension. 71 years old. Lucky to have no mortgage. Now live alone and very frugally.

WitheredStar · 12/01/2024 22:09

approx 65k. Big family. SEN fdc. Income is PIP, DLA , allowances and UC

cadburyegg · 12/01/2024 22:09

31k not including child benefit and small UC top up. I work 30 hrs a week, if I was full time it'd be 39k. Single parent of 2 primary aged children.

lemoncurd1995 · 12/01/2024 22:10

£100k joint earnings, no kids, £1100 mortgage per month, living in the North.

I’d say our earnings are average. We don’t live a lavish lifestyle/have expensive things and don’t feel like we could afford to either. We do have at least one nice holiday a year though. We save approx £1600 a month.

Just us two oldies but not retirement age yet. 100k, very small rent.

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 12/01/2024 22:14

Both work f/t and have 2 young kids.

Remmy123 · 12/01/2024 22:14

£170K

Twiglets11 · 12/01/2024 22:16

350k gross in London , but I don’t feel we are clearly on any upper end

pinksheetss · 12/01/2024 22:17

Around 70k

I'm on 40k, partner is on around 30k ish I think. His monthly take home is around 2k after tax so assume it's around that much

Flamesatmytoes · 12/01/2024 22:17

£290k I work part time, DH full time. I’m the higher earner.

Tooshytoshine · 12/01/2024 22:17

£135k household both full-time. Live in the North. I contribute 25% if the total but all money is in a shared pot as DP values my job and appreciates that I took time off with kids.

janruarry · 12/01/2024 22:18

200k before tax. I earn nothing though - SAHM

There are plenty of similar threads if you search. I don't mind sharing, household income 250k but live in London so mortgage, childcare and commute costs alone are 5k a month

Sorry but 5k for your mortgage, childcare and travel costs is not a big proportion of a £250k salary 🙄. A lot of people have similar costs on much lower salaries.

Agustus · 12/01/2024 22:22

These threads are completely pointless. They tend to get higher earners posting disproportionately. Some will be telling the truth, some will be fantasists. Fights will break out. People will feel aggrieved. Nothing will be gained.

All statistics are available if you can be arsed to Google.

Lucyskywalker88 · 12/01/2024 22:23

MYOB 🙂

Flatulence · 12/01/2024 22:24

100k ish - about 70pc from my salary, the rest from DH. Both have higher degrees. Early 40s.
No kids.
Northern England.
Mortgage about 95k on a 450k house (good luck with when/where we bought, a lot of DIY, no inheritance or family money).
No help from families to get where we are (including no help at uni); didn't buy til early 30s as both in higher education for far too long.
A hell of a lot of good fortune made the hard work pay off; I never thought I'd be in such a comfortable financial situation and I thank my lucky stars each day that life now is so much easier than it was growing up.

BananaSplitsss · 12/01/2024 22:26

Pointless post really. Many make it up. Others stealth boast … 7.4 k per week etc etc ….

Genuinely though. Who gives a fuck

Goinoutalone · 12/01/2024 22:26

40k- it’s just me though. I’m separated and have dc 50:50. I’ve only just qualified though so it will go up. Will increase by 2-2.5k this April.

bobomomo · 12/01/2024 22:27

£150k - 3 adults here currently though

TravelInHope · 12/01/2024 22:28
