The wheels have well and truly fallen off for my just turned 13 year old daughter since transitioning to secondary school.
I’m meeting the SENCO tomorrow and will discuss a referral then but please can you tell me a little about your ASD daughters so I can see if there are any similarities.
She is an only child so I have no comparisons, thanks

DD has been struggling with anorexia for nearly 3 years now and has just got ASD diagnosis. She’s been in and out of hospital and Tier 4 units ever since she was 13 when everything fell apart and it happened so fast.

After two years on the waiting list, we've been offered an NHS assessment!

That's great news!
And that book looks useful too!

DD is delighted, she's said she'd rather be diagnosed with a genuine condition than just be inexplicably 'weird' - her words!

Thanks for the book recommendation. I’ve just ordered it and another one for dd ( and me to read ) and which is written by a 19yr old girl with autism and ADHD.

on a separate note I have had a phone call today from school who have arranged a meeting for Monday morning with them, me and the LA to discuss dd’s home education. It all feels very real now. I’m off to town tomorrow to WH Smith’s for some workbooks for year 8 work, starting with English, maths, science and dd’s favourite subject, history.

will attach pic of the other book I’ve ordered from Amazon.

I just wanted to say thank you Flowers for this post. So much resonating for DD ASD1 and 15. Her big brother goes to Uni this year and the process has really opened our eyes to what will need to be factored in for her.

It's also been so eye opening about the food issues, although she struggles I don't think I've taken into account how stressful this is to DD as the focus was on social challenges. Seems we may need to have a think about this.

Thank you for your kind words @WonderingANDwoeful

Recovery seems like it will never come although CAMHS said they have specialist ASD/ED professionals who can speak to DD so we’re waiting for that at the moment.

Really struggling as DD struggles so much with the social side of school.
Boys making silly inappropriate sexual jokes near her as meant another day of school refusal
