Would you eat this

Had some Elmlea double cream opened for two days in the fridge still in date. Had half left. Yesterday I made some tomato and basil soup in the soup maker with it. Would you warm the soup back up today and eat it? Will it make me unwell?

I would eat it without hesitation.

It'll be perfectly fine.

I'd eat both without a second thought, even if the soup had been left out overnight. Proper cream lasts for ages beyond the use by date, and Elmlea is some kind of cream substitute anyway.

Why do you think it would make you ill?

I would

But I grew up in a house with no fridge, and everything was left unrefrigerated overnight. Still alive!

It was never left more than one night though.

I 'd reheat it. Piping hot. If it had meat of fish in and had been left out overnight then I wouldn't, but tomato should be fine. Don't think think the Elmlea content is relevant. (Oh, and it's not 'rank' - perfectly fine and bloody useful!).
