Would you eat this

Had some Elmlea double cream opened for two days in the fridge still in date. Had half left. Yesterday I made some tomato and basil soup in the soup maker with it. Would you warm the soup back up today and eat it? Will it make me unwell?

The soup has been sat in the soup maker since yesterday btw

Yeah I would eat it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/01/2024 19:05

It’ll be fine reheated to a slow boil.

potatoparsnip · 02/01/2024 19:06

just make sure you get the soup hot enough

Dartmoorcheffy · 02/01/2024 19:06

It will be fine

ChessieFL · 02/01/2024 19:06

Wouldn’t even occur to me to worry about it!

AsanteSana · 02/01/2024 19:06

I would eat it without hesitation...

JingleSnowmanTree · 02/01/2024 19:07

I'd make sure it was piping hot , but I'd eat it no problem!!

Clarinet1 · 02/01/2024 19:07

Do you mean it has been unrefrigerated? And left to cool slowly? In that case I would advise against eating it.

premiur · 02/01/2024 19:07

It's not actually cream, and they say it stays fresher for longer so I guess it will be fine

Oh god no I wouldn't eat that regardless of what is in it. It would need to be cooked and refrigerated for me to touch it next day.

Tayleer · 02/01/2024 19:08

@Clarinet1 yes it has been left out the fridge over night in the soup maker. Didn’t know if to reheat it

OP posts:
Coconutter24 · 02/01/2024 19:11

If it had of been refrigerated then yes I’d reheat and eat but after sitting out on the side all night and day definitely not. Although my mum used to make stew and leave that on the hob in a pan and eat the next day and that was always fine

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 02/01/2024 19:15

Not if the soup has been left out of the fridge overnight. The Elmlea should be the least of your worries.

surlycurly · 02/01/2024 19:16

I absolutely would, and regularly leave soup in the pot over night. Not poisoned myself yet.

Shade17 · 02/01/2024 19:18

I wouldn’t eat anything made with Elmlea, it’s fucking rank

I absolutely wouldn't eat anything left in a soup maker overnight. Surely it needed to be refrigerated?

idontlikealdi · 02/01/2024 19:25

Elmlea isn't cream!

Yes I'd probably eat it if it didn't have elmlea in it

DaisySnowdrop · 02/01/2024 19:29

third this, Elmlea isn’t cream at all! It’s oil substitute for cream- it says it at the bottom of the tub.

WhatNoUsername · 02/01/2024 22:59

I wouldn't eat soup or anything that had been sat on the side for a day. The "cream" is irrelevant. And as PPs have said Elmlea is a shit UPF replacement for cream and as a UPF probably will never go off as it's not proper food (only partially said in jest!...UPF bread lasts for way longer than a normal foodstuff should!). And while we are on normal (aka proper) cream also lasts for a while as it's mainly fat. It tends to last for a lot longer (refrigerated) than the use by date ime.

TempleOfBloom · 02/01/2024 23:08

My kitchen is v cold overnight atm and I only have the heating on to 17’ for a few hours each day. People didn’t used to have fridges.

But I wouldn’t eat Elmlea anyway.

nozbottheblue · 03/01/2024 09:25

There won't be any bugs in the soup as it has been cooked to a high temperature and covered in the soup maker, so nothing to be growing overnight to make you ill.
Elmira also no problem.
Enjoy.

DoesMaryNotDrive · 03/01/2024 09:47

Yes, it’s fine. I dread to think how much food people waste if this is even a question.

I don't waste any food because I cook it and eat it and don't leave it lying about.

BaronessBomburst · 03/01/2024 10:54

I agree with all the posters who'd eat the soup, were it not for the Elmlea!
