Ordered last night, in the fridge within an hour or so, just ate some cold.

Am now freaking out.

Have I done wrong?

I would

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 31/12/2023 17:42

YABVVU indeed. Send the rest of them to me immediately for safekeeping.

KrisAkabusi · 31/12/2023 17:42

Why are you freaking out? Do you normally panic after eating food from your fridge?

Nubbled · 31/12/2023 17:42

Me too

justalittlesnoel · 31/12/2023 17:42

Should be absolutely fine!

PonyPatter44 · 31/12/2023 17:44

Please tell me this is a joke, or some form of satire?

Babyblackbear78 · 31/12/2023 17:45

Will be absolutely fine

BCBird · 31/12/2023 17:46

It not unsafe. Do as u please.

DuploTrain · 31/12/2023 17:46

Were they nice cold?

AngryBird6122 · 31/12/2023 17:46

No it's not a joke!

I normally thoroughly reheat leftovers. This is the first time I have eaten it cold. And it's duck. I don't know, just felt wrong! But delicious

I wouldn't risk it if I were you. Best send them over here, and I'll dispose of them for you.

What are you worried about? Food hygiene education is woeful in this country. What could you possibly be worried about? Jesus.

Hellocatshome · 31/12/2023 17:48

Cold or thoroughly reheated is fine. The problem is half arsed reheating.

Chilicabbage · 31/12/2023 17:49

You either have them chilled or properly warmed up. The issue for many is the middle. Lukewarm leftovers.

Grew up with duck and we eat it for days hot and cold. Totes fine

Rudolphtherednoseddog · 31/12/2023 17:50

I’m a bit fussy about takeaway leftovers (on grounds I have no idea how many times it’s already been reheated/what the date was on things etc) but even I wouldn’t be too worried about it the very next day if it was properly refrigerated and not left lying around. I think you’ll be fine.

And it’s perfectly normal to eat cold “leftover” cooked meat so I don’t see this as any different.

Erm...food poisoning. I thought that was obvious. Fuck's sake.

It quite is overall. My friend never had to buy fruit because her colleague often bought it, it went past bbf date or whatever and she was about to throw it out. Long time ago this was.
Like strawberries and cherries knew what date is it.

And let's not forget the deadly reheated roce. Which is just ridiculous notion if one ever eats rice from restaurants or takeways....

Next day cold Chinese is lovely. Same with pizza.

PonyPatter44 · 31/12/2023 17:52

Have you ever eaten cold chicken, perhaps in a sandwich or a salad? Do you think that cold duck could perhaps be very similar?

Sorry to be sarky, but yes, you are absolutely being COMPLETELY unreasonable!

🤔yes I KNOW! But it was because it was from a takeaway. I don't know, maybe it was reheated there? If I had cooked the chicken myself then yes OF COURSE I would have no problem eating it cold the next day. I don't mind the sarky btw!

@AngryBird6122

But what about cold duck from a properly functioning fridge is going to give you food poisoning? Seriously, who taught you that cold meat, properly cooked and stored and still fresh, will give you food poisoning?

No one taught me that. If someone had then I wouldn't have done it! Hence me asking for advice on here. I suppose it's just the fact I didn't cook it myself and don't know the process.

It was most likely reheated...
However, theae things, if reheated properly, can be reheated more times and still be safe. Just lose quality. So reheated duck will be safe, if stored properly, cold.
