Ordered last night, in the fridge within an hour or so, just ate some cold.

Am now freaking out.

Have I done wrong?

@Chilicabbage
My ex did this. His parents were terrible around food and he had no mind of his own around food. I was making fajitas and the red pepper had past it’s best before date the day before, and I turned and saw him heading for the bin with it saying that we’d have to do without the pepper. Idiot. Stopped him
snd asked wtf he was doing and he just gormlessly pointed to the date. I asked if he had grown that himself and picked it feom
the garden, would he eat it right now and he said yes! But it has a date in it so it’s different from growing it yourself! But it was absolutely fine!
I still can’t stand how much food he wastes and our kids are always coming home telling me they had to stop him throwing out apples/oranges/whatever.

Chilicabbage · 31/12/2023 17:59

@Itslegitimatesalvage i believe that was the reason for doing away with these dates. It's ridiculous waste

AngryBird6122 · 31/12/2023 17:59

Ok I can see the way the thread is going so all you miserable bitches crack on. I need to go wash my shopping. For everyone else, thank you!

Yes, YABU. For not eating them cold for breakfast! 😆

AngryBird6122 · 31/12/2023 17:50

Erm...food poisoning. I thought that was obvious. Fuck's sake.

Dont know why you're swearing at people when you have quite honestly asked a bizarre question

Why would eating someting out of your fridge give you food poisoning?

Personally I let things get to room temperature, I dont like things straight out of the fridge, it ruins the flavour and texture. Im sure that will give some people a fit of the vapours.

Jeannie88 · 31/12/2023 18:05

Oh I have quite a few times, same with salmon lasagne today! X

Jeannie88 · 31/12/2023 18:06

And to add cold lol 😆

Itslegitimatesalvage · 31/12/2023 18:06

@Jeannie88
salmon lasagne?!? Never had that. Can you point me to a recipe? Sounds quite yummy!

Pripsen · 31/12/2023 18:08

Salmon lasagna wtf!!??

AngryBird6122 · 31/12/2023 17:46

No it's not a joke!

I normally thoroughly reheat leftovers. This is the first time I have eaten it cold. And it's duck. I don't know, just felt wrong! But delicious

Nope. You can perfectly safely eat it cold from the fridge. The only proviso for reheating is that if you’re going to reheat, do so thoroughly until it’s piping hot. I love cold crispy duck pancakes. I also love cold spaghetti bolognese for breakfast, and purposely make more than I need so I can put a Tupperware box in the fridge for the next day. Yum. Could be spaghetti bolognese for NYD dinner !!

justalittlesnoel · 31/12/2023 17:42

Should be absolutely fine!

Better warned in the air fryer! Surely this week has been leftovers week, I had last Saturday's lasagne last night and I 'm still here.

I have a recipe which calls for poaching the salmon, flaking it when cold and then mixing it with either dill or parsley sauce (home made and quite thick to hold it’s own in the lasagne). Put aside some of the white sauce before adding the parsley or dill. Blanch and put into cold water a large pack of spinach, then drain and chop it. So what you do is butter a dish and start with a layer of lasagne on the bottom. Spread some spinach over it and top with a layer of the salmon mixture, then lasagne. Repeat and end with a layer of lasagne which you top with the reserved white sauce. Top with the cheese of your choice and bake in the oven until heated through and the top is golden and bubbling. My mouth is now watering and I’m off to the fridge !!

Denimdenimdenim · 31/12/2023 18:17

I'll be honest here, I love cold Chinese. Actually, I love all cold leftover takeaway. Delicious.

bellac11 · 31/12/2023 18:21

I used to cook a lovely tuna lasagne, just tinned tuna, used in the place of the mince, dont need to cook down as long, so do the tomato ragu mixture on its own for a long time, add the tuna, cook a bit longer then assemble

Think it was from BBC food but all I did really was swap mince for lasagne and cooked the same lol. Yes it's delicious and so easy to make. Hope you enjoy it! Xx

You've had some very unnecessary replies OP! Absolutely no need. It's a fair enough question to ask - I'd have probably asked it too. Some odd folk on here and Christmas/ NY seems to bring out the worst unfortunately!

Enjoy washing your shopping 🤭🤣

No doubt you are still washing your shopping due to fear of Covid.
Get a grip!

This, for example, was particularly unnecessary.

You're very unpleasant!

driftingdownintomiami · 31/12/2023 19:37

To be fair it was a very strange question. Because fairly obviously if it's been in the fridge overnight there's no greater risk than when OP ate it when it arrived. Whether to reheat would have been sensible question as it may have already been reheated ( we had a partially cooked there bird roast for Christmas dinner and it specifically said NOT to reheat as it had already been reheated once when it was cooked on Christmas Day.)

gocompare · 31/12/2023 20:37

I'd still eat it tomorrow lol. It's a day old you will be fine.

Princesspollyyy · 31/12/2023 21:47

Are you feeling ok?

Duck is fine eaten cold, you can buy duck in wraps in the sandwich section in places like Tesco, m&s etc.
