Dropped ds off at nursery this morning, usually i drop him off then come back home to get ready for work as it's impossible to have a shower without him trying to climb in and getting soaked and cold!! so i usually throw on whatever clothes i can find to do the nursery run in.

This morning i was wearing a tatty pair of jeans, one of dh's very baggy jumpers, a pair of crocs and had bed-hair. I also had ds' nursery bag (Sean the Sheep) on my bag while i was putting him into his car seat. A middle-aged couple over the road started to point and laugh at me and i heard her say, "How can she leave the house like that in the morning?" Obviously I died inside.

But as I drove off i saw them further down the road and they just happened to be by a massive puddle. I purposefully accidentally drove into it and splashed them both.

Was i being unreasonable when i cackled like a loon all the way to nursery and will i be unreasonable when i chuckle all day at the memory of her face in the rear view??

belgo · 17/03/2008 09:15

YANBU, how awful they were so rude to you!

SheherazadetheGoat · 17/03/2008 09:15

fantastic - no doubt some one will come on to chastise you for your irresponsible behaviour and point out they might have been allergic to puddle water.

mishymoo · 17/03/2008 09:16

YANBU - I would have done the same!

winestein · 17/03/2008 09:17

I hope they didn't get your number plate as you can be done for that!

Can't say I blame you for doing it though!

(If they didn get your reg you obviously were unable to avoid the puddle as there was an opposing vehicle so you couldn't pull round it, but had thought you had not splashed them in the end anyway )

theUrbanDryegg · 17/03/2008 09:17

she looked like a really shocked goldfish!!!!!

winestein - it's a really narrow road with cars parked on one side, there was no way i could've avoided it...

I'd have wanted to but don't think I could have!

Are they neighbours? Will you have to see them every day? Will they know it was you?

needahand · 17/03/2008 09:19

pmsl. Good for you

WigWamBam · 17/03/2008 09:20

Two wrongs don't make a right ...

theUrbanDryegg · 17/03/2008 09:20

Buda - i don't think they're neighbours, and if they are then i'll tell them exactly why i did it...maybe. if i'm in my car and they're on the pavement.

Absolutely disgraceful! They could have been traumatised for life and are busy arranging counselling at this very moment.

ChocolateSquonkyEggs · 17/03/2008 09:28

Have you considered the fact that they may have to sit in wet, damp, dank clothes all day?

cornsilk · 17/03/2008 09:28

Well done Urban Dryegg - it's dog eat dog out there on the school run. I made a woman who was trying not to acknowledge me say hello this morning. She works at ds's school and after making steely eye contact on the corridor (which went on for a good few seconds) I smiled at her, but she just looked away and went to walk past me, so I said a pointed 'Hello!' (quite manically as I was late and out of breath) and she had to acknowledge me, even though she really didn't want to!

cornsilk · 17/03/2008 09:29

God - how sad am I? Just re-read my post!
