Breastfeeding has ruined my breasts

ChaiLatteLove · 29/12/2023 13:06

I've been exclusively breastfeeding my son until last month, when he switched to formula milk. I am in desperate need of some advice as my breasts have noticeably shrunk and become saggy—I'm not exaggerating. My breasts were naturally a size E, but now I barely fit into a B cup. Even my DH has pointed it out. I am looking for tips or suggestions, whether it's exercises, creams, or anything else that might help.

Everyone says they come back but mine didn't they're like a pair of empty socks.

Thecatthatgotthesouredmilk · 01/02/2024 12:16

Fenugreek supplements can help with the fullness of breasts as they contain natural estrogen. This could be a temporary measure until the fat deposits return to the breast tissue. Holland and Barretts do a good one.

I'm the same, I EBF for 14 months and stopped in October 2023. I have to wear sports bra's at the moment because none of my bra's fit me anymore. I was a C cup, but now there is a massive hollow in the bra's so I can't wear them. There is nothing to "push up" with my old push up bra's. I need to get re-measured but I'd guess that I'm an A cup now.
They have drooped as-well.
They don't tell you any of this when BF.

StacieBenson · 01/02/2024 14:09

Is it breastfeeding itself that causes the changes or pregnancy? Bit late to ask really but I'm curious. Dreading what they will look like once I'm done😬

Greeniguana · 01/02/2024 14:23

I bf for a combined total of 5 years. DC are all teens now and my boobs have never gone back to what they were pre babies but were never massive. But nice and pert. I was a 36C for years.

However in the last few years, probably perimenopausal, proving their fullness is definitely partially hormone related, I've noticed they can feel much fuller and perter for a few (fab) days before my period.

Then they go to shit again when it arrives 🙄 😅😩

Bristolian79 · 01/02/2024 14:27

Time! A looooong time, but they do come back. Mine came back after around 9 months (post 5 years of breastfeeding!) and tbh there's really very little difference now to how they were before pregnancy 😊 However, in those 9 months post breastfeeding it was very depressing so you have my sympathy OP x

JanglingJack · 01/02/2024 14:37

I just wanted to say that it's not just breastfeeding (in case it's putting new Mums off).
I bottle fed both of mine. Personal and physical reasons. I was 34B... Breast got larger during pregnancy and absolutely massive when my milk came in.
Once that has dried and boobs deflated - literally (!) My boobs were really flat, saggy and thin.

But - they came back of sorts, they'll never stand proudly again and will always be found under my armpits laying flat, but yes some of the shape and the fat does come back.
They look okay, but a lot lower too.

Branster · 01/02/2024 14:41

Similar to @Thecatthatgotthesouredmilk, dill seeds (and derivatives) also help increase firmness/volume in breast tissue.
I never tried because it also increases fertility, and no way did I ever want to increase my fertility.
So be careful with these oestrogen mimic plant products, they are potent and might cause other problems.

OP they will settle on their own eventually, but it takes time.

Either or both can do it.

For me, breastfeeding messed mine up. If in get engorged or don't wean slowly, you can mess things up.

tty · 01/02/2024 15:13

For those saying it's pregnancy...Had two kids and didn't breastfeed and mine are exactly the same as before I got pregnant with my first 🤷‍♀️

I am 10 months in breastfeeding and baby prefers the right one. The difference in sizes is now huge.

I wanted to start pumping after I return to work in 2 months. Now looking at their sizes and mismatched shapes, I will have to wean him now.

Just worried how much inconsistent they will be after weaning.

Sympathies. Mine became asymmetric when more milk came though the left and they stayed that way. I’ve removed the mirrors from my house and I don’t even look at my reflection in the bathroom taps. The GP said the NHS won’t help me. They would have fixed it if the asymmetry was caused by cancer or some other disease “because it affects your mental health not having two breasts” but they won’t fix it if it was caused by breastfeeding.

  1. Do a loud critical analysis of the appearance of your husband's cock and balls.
  1. Er, that's it.

ChaiLatteLove · 29/12/2023 14:11

Thanks for reassuring me. I guess all I can do is wait and watch for now. I hope I get them back. Perhaps a gel bra might be my only option as suggested. I was hoping some cream or certain exercise might help, but it seems that’s not the option. Thanks xx

There are no muscles in breast tissue so no exercise will help and if there was a magic cream then I want some please! Your body is amazing, it grew an actual human and sustained them. You need to give it time.

Sapphire387 · 01/02/2024 16:33

I bf my first two for a combined total of five years... it took a few months afterwards for them to stop feeling saggy but they ended up bigger.

I only bf for two months with my third. She's now six months. Breasts are fine, bigger than ever.

I was a 34B before children, currently 36E but I do need to lose a bit of weight and expecting to settle back to a C or D cup.

Don't lose faith, give it time.

Your husband needs to stfu, you've grown a beautiful baby that is half his, fed said baby from your breasts too... anything less than worshipping your body after that is unacceptable. I really mean that.

ChaiLatteLove · 08/02/2024 08:51

@StacieBenson Before I became pregnant, my bra size was 36 EE. During pregnancy, my breasts became fuller, and I switched to a 36FFF in the later stages. Since I finished weaning him from breastfeeding, the size has reduced significantly, and now they barely fit in a B cup. So I will say that breastfeeding, rather than pregnancy, has affected the size and volume.

HRT helped mine many years later.

I miss my pre pregnancy nipples though.

This.

Honestly, breasts are for BF and our society is fucked up so far as accepting that reality.

You'd hope that DH priority is a healthy wife and child not getting to squeeze a boob of a certain dimension 🤨

Pancakedayisthebest · 08/02/2024 09:10

I bf my first for 2 years and they came back. Then I did the same for dc2 and they never bounced back. I've lost all volume at the top of them so despite probably being a 30F at the bottom I have to wear a 32D as otherwise there is so much gape at the top of a bra that I could get tennis balls in there, and yes I've tried balconette half cup etc.

Thankfully they look ok once theyve been puddled into a bra. DH doesn't seem to care so Ive learnt to live with it. I do miss my old cleavage a bit, it was cracking, but I'm 40 now anyway so it's not as of that was going to be a long term thing to show off.

I did lose lots of weight after dc2 though and I suspect if I gained weight they'd look better but I'd rather be a healthy weight with puddly boobs.

Kirkeee · 29/12/2023 15:46

What happens to them if you exclusively formula feed?

Mine are the same as they've always been, 36D and perky. I like them.

reluctantlondoner · 08/02/2024 09:33

They do come back. I BF for over 3 years in total and my boobs are honestly fine again now! Give it time x

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 08/02/2024 09:47

Only my experience of course, but I went from an A pre pregnancy to an F when breastfeeding, and back down to a D a few years after I stopped.

Menopause hasn’t helped (over 50 now) and a lot of weight loss in the last 2 years, but they’re still hanging in at a C.

Since there is a hint of a spaniel’s ears (but more to do with no boobs than huge breastfeeding boobs in 9 months) any bra with excellent scaffolding helps.

DH loves them regardless of size, shape and how many stretch marks adorn them.

One boyfriend between DS’s Dad and DH did critique them, so I gave him an honest critique of his cock & balls. And then dumped him.

This was also the guy who said I was, “Very flexible for a fat person.” Twunt.

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 08/02/2024 09:57

They come back. Mine are now bigger than before I had my last child (BF for 3 years).
If your husband comments in any way other than "you are amazing for breastfeeding our child", conduct a critical analysis of his body. I mean, he must be perfect right if he's criticising you?!
