Too much food, feel disgusting

I have hugely over indulged, feel gross. I think my thighs have actually got bigger in the last few days. No self control, just binged on everything despite feeling fat and dumpy. Stomach is huge, jeans are tight. I have two more meals out and plan to be healthy in the new year. I am unreasonable to feel so disappointed in myself that I’ve eaten so much? Does anyone else feel horrid and just wants the festive season to end so that there isn’t so much food and eating out?

I had brownies and chocolate for breakfast today so I completely understand. I'm craving a salad.

don’t worry it’s what we eat between new year and Christmas not the short period of Christmas and New Year.

half a pound on after having tomato and broccoli pasta last week! Went for a walk today and got home to Mum making home-made mince pies (not had any all month!) so after my Turkey salad today I gave in. Tomorrow another walk and Aqua aerobics - this time next week it’ll be all over, we’ll be back in control x

AvengedQuince · 26/12/2023 21:36

Regifting helps. I just bring food I've been given to other people's houses, just keeping what I like.

IWishItWasSpring · 26/12/2023 21:42

It’s easy to stay in control over Christmas eating wise. We don’t eat massive meals or eat until we feel sick, we don’t like chocolate or gorge ourselves on food as it makes both of us feel ill. We stop eating when we feel full and don’t snack. It’s not about the festive season it’s about your food choices. The choice is yours if you put it in your mouth at the end of the day, no-one forces anyone to eat, it’s personal choice.

IWishItWasSpring · 26/12/2023 21:48

I think you're panic bingeing in anticipation of unsustainable deprivation throughout January

No-one should feel deprived of food though. It’s easy to work out your TDEE and you can eat what you want as long as you stay within your calorie deficit.

I feel like a lump of lard

Tigger1895 · 26/12/2023 21:53

I’m not a big fan of Sunday roasts, so wonder if its because I’m eating food I wouldn’t normally eat causes the bloating and cramps.
I also find after cooking, I’ve lost my appetite but need to sit with family and be seen to eat the food I’ve cooked.
Thank goodness I have a few days off and can eat whatever I want from tomorrow.

Seabreeze18 · 26/12/2023 21:55

I know how u feel! I lost weight for the lead up to Christmas but went on holiday and drank every night and ate 3 meals rather than one a day! Right now my gut has doubled in size and I feel disgusting. Planning on skipping meals from tomorrow and then enjoying the meals out planned. Hugs

troppibambini6 · 26/12/2023 21:57

I've not been making healthy choices yesterday and today. I feel horrible but will be making healthier choices tomorrow. I'm making a big pan of pho and no more snacking on junk.
I have some social occasions in between now and new year but will eat healthily around those meals and also not pig out when I go.

You could do so much damage between now and new year!

If you have a family member saying 'go on, go on, go on' all the time, the choice is not yours! There's a limit to how rudely you can shout that you've had enough.

Yeah, pass on the problem to someone else!

It's a bit rude to turn up empty handed 😁

threecupsofteaminimum · 26/12/2023 22:11

I can barely bend over I've eaten so much roast dinner, mince pies & christmas pudding. My middle is an extra rubber ring.

I'll worry about it in a few days, let's just enjoy the festive season of excess!

DairyleaFunker · 26/12/2023 22:32

Give him a watch. He's an absolute breath of fresh air with his reassurance about Xmas.

No, it’s easy. “I’ve had enough thank you”. YOU are in control of what goes in your mouth, no-one else is and yes the choice is yours and yours alone. A family member doesn’t force food down your throat.

Give it to a food bank if its non perishable.

Go on then, treat yourself Grin Bit of cranberry sauce to ‘cut’ the fattiness, grand.

MidnightMeltdown · 26/12/2023 23:37

I don't think that I eat more in terms of quantity over Christmas, but definitely much less healthy choices. Fruit, veg, fibre and water has been replaced with sugar, cream, party food and wine!

YouRatBastard · 26/12/2023 23:42

Yep. I’m on my 3rd day of having at least 2 puddings each day and I have eaten so much chocolate on top. I was actually stuffing yet more chocolate in earlier and, despite feeling full and a bit sick, still kept going. It’s like I can’t stop until it’s all gone!

@DairyleaFunker I watch him on TikTok, he does talk a lot of sense. I still feel sick though after all my chocolate!

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2023 23:44

Same as @MidnightMeltdown -
my capacity to eat doesn’t increase just because it’s Christmas but the variety of choices available mean I definitely veer towards eating things I don’t usually!
For dinner this evening I said to dh I didn’t want a main meal. I picked at a few things after a long walk this afternoon. Had a nap, went and cut myself a slice of chocolate torte and then dd came and made herself an avocado and smoked salmon bagel which I also fancied so had one of those too!
When I came up to bed ds came in to me and I asked him to make up a bedtime story for me and he told a story about a lady who ate pudding first then a bagel and popped overnight 😂😂
I’m also not moving as much as I usually do, regular 3 times a week swimming and daily walks have sort of slid these last couple of weeks as things have been busy, really looking forward to resuming my regular routines in the new year.

Lighttodark · 26/12/2023 23:48

Don’t be too hard on yourself, indulgent food is around you, it’s easily done. However, why do you have to wait until the new year to be healthier? Why can’t you start now?

I donate to the Country Food Trust as they supply high protein, nutritious meals to food banks and community kitchens.

I'd still drop off anything I couldn't rehome over Christmas to one of my local community food hubs. I prefer to give nutritious food though.

Assume my reply was hidden because of a just giving link. I'll try another. I donate to the country food trust who supply foodbanks with high protein nutritious meals. I'd guess that foodbanks have had enough treats donated in December already.

Self-control? Just say no?
Don't buy crap?
No excuse to do all that eating unless you have Prader-Will syndrome
