Got them here too - South East. . . dickheads. . .

We did too roughly same time! South Coast rather than South East....so guessing not same ones? 😄

MichelleScarn · 25/12/2023 19:52

Same here, rural West Coast Scotland. Fuckers

penjil · 25/12/2023 20:02

Well, people can buy them and light them whenever they wish.
That is what living in a free country is about, whether you like it or not.

HappiestSleeping · 25/12/2023 20:04

We are Hampshire and have them here despite the rain. Fortunately, dog not bothered.

FlyingCherub · 25/12/2023 20:12

None here, thank god. But we do live rurally and there was a major kick off from some farmers in the village about livestock over Nov 5th this year.... think we had fireworks for about 6/7 days beforehand as well as on the 5th. So I'm hoping that New Year may be quieter for once.

And? It's not going to be as many as on Nov. 5 or new years eve

I guess the it's only one day a year argument only works when you're talking about November 5th.
At Christmas it's about living in a free country.

SnapdragonToadflax · 25/12/2023 20:18

Same here in Essex, why?! Never had them before, was there some kind of social media campaign to get people to buy them?

It's pouring with rain and windy, so rather them than me. My sofa and the Christmas chocolates are far more appealing.

RabbitsRock · 25/12/2023 20:24

None here but it’s wet & windy. Used to love fireworks but now we have bunnies, I’m not keen. Just wish people would stick to the days they’re supposed to. Round here fireworks go off all week leading up to Bonfire Night & no doubt we’ll have some before New Years Eve.

notafraidofthebigbadwolf · 25/12/2023 20:27

Our next door neighbours but one just did some, they were wonderful! What a happy Christmas surprise for us. We all went excitedly into the garden.

CagneyAndLazy · 25/12/2023 20:28

It will be the 'live, laugh, love' types wanting to make a show for Instagram.

I'm sure we're "just jealous" and should "get a life", according to some who will come along and tell us we're "boring" for thinking it's crap.

Always the same.

Girlwithapple · 25/12/2023 20:32

We've just had a load here, we've lived here for 20 years and this is the first time I've heard them here Christmas Day. It is chucking it down and so windy too.

@HappiestSleeping gorgeous dog and I love the bed, can I ask where it is from please?

Thank you. It's a Snug and Cosy bed. I don't know where it is from as it came with him (he's a rescue), but I have found this website:-

Thank you @HappiestSleeping it looks a really snuggly bed, bet mine would love that! I'll have a look at them 😊

Dotjones · 25/12/2023 21:13

I've never heard them on Christmas day, better they fire them off during the daytime than the twats who set them off at midnight for new year.

I don't think fireworks are appropriate for any date other than 5th Nov (in this country) but if they're going to be set off on any other day Christmas probably makes the most sense.

littlejellyfish · 25/12/2023 21:18

Yep some absolute moron here just woke up and terrified my kids with fireworks. It’s after 9pm ffs.

Zanatdy · 25/12/2023 21:19

We has one Big Bang last night. Just once. Dog was scared. What was the point?

mrswhiplington · 25/12/2023 21:21

They don't seem to need an excuse where I live. They go off at random times, day or night.

EmpressSoleil · 25/12/2023 21:32

Had them here in North London too. I was wondering why. Clearly none of us got the memo that Christmas day is also now a firework day!

gingeristhenewblack43 · 25/12/2023 21:34

WhamBamThankU · 25/12/2023 18:16

Same here, never heard them on Christmas Day before and it's not properly dark yet?

Where do you live that it's not properly dark at 6pm (assuming you are in the UK)? I'm in the North East, 5 miles east of Newcastle and excited that it's only just getting dark at 4.30pm. Not the point of the post but I'm intrigued.

MCOut · 25/12/2023 21:36

Here in London too. It’s so annoying and is raining so why?!

ElfieMcElfFace · 25/12/2023 22:07

Someone let off loads of very loud ones here (Scotland) around 9pm. Scared the bloody life out of me. Never heard them at Christmas before.

The local Facebook page is full of complaints about terrified dogs and babies being woken up.

Why do fireworks have to be so loud? They didn't used to be.

RumNotRun · 25/12/2023 22:14

I'd settled down to watch Philadelphia with one of the cats, all nice and snuggled, and then those really loud cannon type ones started going off. Totally ruined the atmosphere of the film and frightened the bejeezus out of poor Toad.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 25/12/2023 22:14

It will be birthday's next, then christenings and heaven forbid, funerals - in fact I think where I live it probably does already 🙄.
Just ban the fuckers already.

Cincinnatus · 25/12/2023 19:21

None near me but thankfully I don’t live near people like ‘that’.

Like "what"?

Had them round here last night but thankfully not for too long. My friend's elderly dog was terrified.
