To only want one source of noise at a time?

Probably small problem but this morning the TV is blaring and various toys of the kids are making the noises they do. Then DP starts Alexa playing loud Christmas songs. I really was getting a bit stressed with it - DP gets all grumpy and says we can surely play Christmas songs but that TV and toys (and kids) is too much!

It's not just me then...so lovely to discover that; I thought it was just me being tetchy (as XH always sighed loudly when I asked him not to have his phone on competing with the TV...)

And yes to the visceral reaction...like instant hate!

100% with you on this. Husband constantly puts his phone on ( with noisy reels) when I am peacefully listening to a play or something interesting.... calls me controlling. Won't use ear buds but asks for mine which I know he will break or loose so I say no. He carries on😐

I would struggle with that.

I've got adult family staying with me now who turn the TV on as soon as they come down. I can cope because I just sat drinking tea but when they've done it and I'm trying to get the kids ready for school I have to ask them to turn it off.
So irritating first thing. And, it's not the news but loud American comedy shows.
