To ask if you like Iced Coffee?

girlfriend44 · 23/12/2023 15:08

Having always had a hot coffee, I recently tried the Coffee with the cold water instead of hot.
I couldnt decide whether I liked it or not? Probably not tbh.

Wondered about others? Do you like it? Is it better in the summer when its hot?

Iced latte, yes. Iced coffee - mostly water, absolutely not!

CoatOfArms · 23/12/2023 16:37

I like cold coffee, but don't like it with too much ice which dilutes it as it melts.

Hankunamatata · 23/12/2023 16:38

Yes but it's got to be expresso run onto ice then extra ice added, it's got to be ice cold and I prefer mine with milk

pepperaunt · 23/12/2023 16:41

I grew up in Massachusetts, where it’s normal to drink iced coffee all year. I always have a pitcher of iced coffee in the fridge!

dontgobaconmyheart · 23/12/2023 16:41

I'm not a huge fan of either but would drink both. Make it hot OP, then put onto a glass full of ice and add milk/syrup etc, mix it all up - much nicer.

CherryogDog · 23/12/2023 16:48

Love it on a hot day!
Made with Camp coffee, full fat milk and poured over ice.

poetryandwine · 23/12/2023 16:48

I love iced coffee and iced tea, both brewed hot and cooled down

StripeyDeckchair · 23/12/2023 16:52

No, coffee is drunk hot, either black or with milk.
It doesn't need syrups or flavourings added either.

Metallicant · 23/12/2023 17:19

No. I love hot coffee.

This. What are you doing to make iced coffee with cold water?

Southwest12 · 23/12/2023 17:22

I prefer iced coffee. Cold brew is best but will order an iced flat white or iced latte if no cold brew. Even when it's minus degrees outside I'll have a iced coffee in my frostbitten hand!

There's such a thing as cold brew, it's just coffee made with cold water, it takes longer, it doesn't extract certain flavours to the same extent

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 23/12/2023 17:25

No, really don't like it. I'm not a great coffee drinker - occasionally a strong black coffee will really hit the spot but otherwise I drink tea.

Luxell934 · 23/12/2023 17:26

Nope tried it but can't get on board with them, give me a hot latte any day.

easylikeasundaymorn · 23/12/2023 17:28

I only really like iced coffee, not a fan of hot. Like other hot drinks like tea/chai etc. though.

The clue is in the name though, as in ICED not just a normal coffee made with cold water (and then drunk straight away rather than deliberate cold brew filtering), no wonder you weren't a fan if that's how you made it, it sounds grim! And as a pp said makes more sense to try it in the summer, half the point is the refreshment of a cold drink.

ginasevern · 23/12/2023 17:29

I prefer iced coffee (made properly) to hot coffee. I particularly like iced coffee with a shot of Khalua in it and cream on top. Roll on Christmas Day.

Coconutter24 · 23/12/2023 15:46

I love hot and iced coffee. How did you make the iced coffee? I make a double espresso, put ice in a cup pour milk over ice then add the double espresso over the top…. Perfect 👌

Exactly this. Every morning for breakfast.

HRTQueen · 24/12/2023 02:47

Yes hot coffee poured over ice not the syrupy iced coffees that are often sold

iced tea is vile and I absolutely love tea it’s my favourite drink

25yearstilretirement · 24/12/2023 02:59

Yes I do.

OhcantthInkofaname · 24/12/2023 03:35

Sometimes.

PearTreeBoat · 24/12/2023 03:49

There are a couple of easy ways to make iced coffee at home. As others have suggested, pour a double espresso over ice and add milk (and syrup if you desire). Or make some cold brew up in advance then just pour that over ice and add a splash of milk (and again syrup if you fancy).

To make cold brew add 5/6 heaped spoons of coffee to a cafetiere, add cold water and pop in the fridge for 24 hours without plunging. After 24 hours plunge the coffee and pour into a clean bottle/jug and will keep in fridge for 3/4 days, then just make as above.

It was a life saver for me a few years ago when I had an awful case of oral thrush. It was the only thing that didn’t feel like drinking teeny tiny knives.

Oat milk too.

Muchof · 24/12/2023 04:35

Yes I like it, but there is no cold water involved. I make an espresso in the normal way (hot) then pour onto milk and ice.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 24/12/2023 04:36

I love Tim Hortons ice cap made with chocolate milk, but alas... I can
no longer tolerate caffeine.

ShippingNews · 24/12/2023 04:36

Real iced coffee isn't just coffee made with cold water . It is more like a coffee milk shake ! I'm in Australia and it's one of the more common drinks here. There are a multitude of different strengths and flavours , sold in the dairy section of the supermarket or the milk bar. I also make my own, with a shot of coffee from the machine mixed with freezing cold milk and a few ice cubes. Yum !
