celebrities saying they need a holiday

nearlyemptynes · 20/12/2023 13:13

So just been watching Jeff and Bobby Brazier on loose women. Normally like them, still do, but they were asked what their Christmas looks like. To which Jeff replied, sunshine, after all the stress of strictly we need a holiday. Well woopy do for him. Does he really need a holiday? I can think of many more deserving and harder working people, none of then celebrities.

So just because someone is well known, they don't deserve a holiday?

Rather strange view.

Curlyorcurlier · 20/12/2023 17:15

Everyone’s stress and problems are stress and problems to them, some are objectively worse or course. I’d rather be stressed that the pilot of my private plane was sick and my PA was struggling to find a replacement than stressed that I was going to be homeless with four children and a dog. But the person with the stress and the problem will still feel the stress and the effects of the problem. And that’s ‘unfair’ but there’s no point being jealous or whatever because it won’t change the lives of those ‘worse off’.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 20/12/2023 17:17

The one celebrity I know works easily 100-120 hours some weeks, almost never gets a full day off, is almost never at home with his family for more than a few days at a time, and ends up working even when he does eventually take time off.

It's not a life I would want.

RobertaFirmino · 20/12/2023 17:19

What a great big steaming pile of green eyed shite.

Butchyrestingface · 20/12/2023 17:24

@nearlyemptynes Jackiey, is that you? Have a 🍋. Xmas Grin

givemethetea · 20/12/2023 18:03

Embarrassing post for you OP

Hbh17 · 20/12/2023 18:10

YABU, OP. I have no idea who these people are (yes, I know I could Google), but everyone needs a holiday now and then. Being a "celebrity" is no exception - life can still be stressful, and we can all get fed up with grotty UK weather).

Starseeking · 20/12/2023 19:09

Them going on holiday doesn't mean that nobody else can go on holiday.

It sounds like you expect them to work all year round without a break, which is very odd.

GonksAreNotJustForChristmas · 20/12/2023 13:24

I hope Jeff & Bobby have a lovely holiday.

Me too

I understand where you’re coming from but the problem with this attitude is that it will only perpetuate your own misery.

Everything is relative in life. To the mere millionaire, the problem is not being able to buy a decent yacht. To the multimillionaire, the problem is not being able to buy a fancy yacht with all the accessories. And to the billionaire, the problem is having a massive fancy yacht but maybe no friends onboard that are actually genuine.

Focus on what you do have and can achieve and you’ll be much happier.

According to another thread OP has been to Crete this year.

MadamVastra · 20/12/2023 19:23

You should head over to the Christmas Fridge thread op with the other misogs

Throwhandsupintheair · 20/12/2023 19:39

Jealousy is not the look OP.

Tinkerbyebye · 20/12/2023 19:41

It’s all relative isn’t it. Dancing for strictly is really hard work physically and mentally especially when you are not used to dancing

hes entitled to a holiday, as is anyone
so get over bitterness

VanityDiesHard · 20/12/2023 20:33

YABU, although to be fair there are some celebrities whose life I feel really is one neverending holiday (Katie Price and the Kardashians come to mind) However, I don't really think that Jeff and Bobby Brazier fall into that category.

ETA. Even though I dislike the Kardashians and find them vacuous nobodies, they are at least keeping people employed and their money is theirs to spend as they see fit. I can't even say that for Pricey, as she is supposed to be bankrupt yet her life is one long jolly. That does annoy me.

fingerguns · 20/12/2023 20:35

LubaLuca · 20/12/2023 13:23

Bloody hell. The lad's been working, his job is to entertain people. I sit quietly at a desk for 35 hours a week, I'm not exerting huge amounts of energy in front of an audience of millions, but I still feel like I deserve a break from it over Christmas.

Who do you think IS deserving of a holiday?!

Exactly this!

kitsuneghost · 20/12/2023 20:52

I think television work is actually really hard work.
Harder than sitting on your ass watching them

It all relative. Some people will feel more deserving of a holiday than someone who watches loose women all day.

OracleofWurms · 20/12/2023 20:58

ive not long watched the stunts and acting etc that goes on for the latest eps of doctor who, and its not as easy as it looks on screen and in truth quite hard work

the80sweregreat · 20/12/2023 20:58

Probably caught on the hop with the question and didn't think too hard because they don't see it as odd. They probably have quite a few breaks and holidays each year as they are not watching every penny like most people are and it's normal for them to do this

SleepingStandingUp · 20/12/2023 21:00

Op if you want your celebrities to be philanthropic, you're watching the wrong show.
Obviously he should have replied well actually I'm applying to MacDonalds cc to get a real job so I can go on holiday next year because otherwise I just don't deserve one

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 20/12/2023 21:05

Oh come on, if they feel like they need a holiday then they feel like they need a holiday. There is no limit on the number of people who might feel like that. And being on strictly does look pretty exhausting.

idontlikealdi · 20/12/2023 22:12

Why can't they want a holiday? Why are you more worthy of them than a holiday?

Throwhandsupintheair · 20/12/2023 22:39

I know. Why don’t we all compare everything we’ve each gone through this year, then rank them. The one who has had it worst, deserves the holiday?

Alternatively, people just go on holiday when and where they want, if they have the money and days available at the time. No permission required?

BoredPangolins · 26/12/2023 10:56

Surely a holiday is a break from from the norm and a time to spend with family?
Regardless of your job and how hard you work surely everyone deserves that every now and again?

SamW98 · 26/12/2023 10:57

What a ridiculous post.

I don’t watch Strictly but from what I’ve seen Bobby has been working every day to perfect his dancing. Hes probably been away from home quite a lot and so it’s lovely that they are looking forward to a nice family holiday together.

Of all celebrities, I think this family are very close and enjoy standing quality time together. So why not enjoy a week or two in the sun to escape the British weather before they all go back to their relative jobs?
