celebrities saying they need a holiday

nearlyemptynes · 20/12/2023 13:13

So just been watching Jeff and Bobby Brazier on loose women. Normally like them, still do, but they were asked what their Christmas looks like. To which Jeff replied, sunshine, after all the stress of strictly we need a holiday. Well woopy do for him. Does he really need a holiday? I can think of many more deserving and harder working people, none of then celebrities.

OP posts:
Lifechange2023 · 20/12/2023 14:00

I’d say Bobby has worked his socks off the last few months: he didn’t just rock up on a Saturday night and have a bit of a boogie plus he was filming eastenders

BetsyBobbins · 20/12/2023 14:03

What a sad little life, Jane.

ShakeNvacStevens · 20/12/2023 14:05

I can imagine there are people in many dirt-poor or war torn countries around the world who might question why anyone in the UK might ever "need" a holiday.

BarbaraofSevillle · 20/12/2023 14:10

Well if Strictly is made in the UK, then they're suffering just as much from lack of sun and shit weather as the rest of us.

Plus they do a physically demanding job and always have to be 'on', whether or not they feel like it. Of course they're looking forward to being able to relax in the sun, and maybe getting out and about without being recognised wherever they go.

grayhairdontcare · 20/12/2023 14:10

Are you bitter about every other nice thing in other people's lives or just those who can afford to go on holiday?

Wishimaywishimight · 20/12/2023 14:20

Not quite the same however I did read an article online recently regarding a member of the Royal Family who said that she sometimes had to scream into a pillow in order to release the stress of trying to juggle work and children.

That did make me roll my eyes a little 😄

XenoBitch · 20/12/2023 14:24

Do you think that celebs on TV are literally only "working" for the time they are on air?
Something like Strictly, they will have been doing a hell of a lot of training and practice etc. Doing this is still work.

You sound bitter tbh. Celebs having a holiday does not affect you in the slightest.

GonksAreNotJustForChristmas · 20/12/2023 14:34

@nearlyemptynes you've been to Crete.

Why are Jeff & Bobby being unreasonable?

GonksAreNotJustForChristmas · 20/12/2023 14:36

Also, 20 people agree you. What is wrong with some people.

Angrycat2768 · 20/12/2023 14:42

Bobby is in Eastenders, which has a gruelling schedule and long days, and he's also been doing Strictly, which is a gruelling schedule and long days. So acting/ singing etc isn't brain surgery but it is a job, and a pretty exhausting one I would think. People are allowed so say ' I've worked really hard and now I'm going on holiday.' I've worked really hard and I'm going on holiday too.

SuspiciousSue · 20/12/2023 14:45

So, because you can’t afford a holiday everyone should stay at home being miserable? Ok then 🙄 🙄

This does irritate me, because it feels like they are completely out of touch and pretending to he 'just like you' when they don't have to lift a finger that they don't choose to lift, and there is always someone else to pick up the slack if you don't make dinner that night or forget to hoover!

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 20/12/2023 14:48

Very bitter OP

Why shouldn't they get a holiday?

grayhairdontcare · 20/12/2023 14:50

But the most unreasonable thing about this post is that you actually watch Loose Women

DJSteves · 20/12/2023 14:52

I bet he's knackered after 10 weeks on the Strictly train. Hope he has a top holiday. I'd be doing the same

Restrelief · 20/12/2023 15:01

I agree with the others. Also when people say they need a holiday they often mean a break, just quiet time to themselves or with family. Everyone deserves that. Everyone needs breaks. People in wars or natural disasters obviously have very urgent needs, but if their lives return to a normality with a job and making a living they will need breaks like everyone else. (In addition to any specific medical or medical emotional and practical support to rebuild).

ColleenDonaghy · 20/12/2023 15:02

A lot of celebrities are celebrities because they've worked bloody hard to get to where they are. Someone who's just finished the full run of Strictly must be exhausted, it's full on.

Everyone deserves a holiday. It's awful that in our wealthy country, people who work full time and have moderate outgoings still can't afford a few days away.

Alarum · 20/12/2023 15:09

Yes, you’re right. Bobby Brazier definitely shouldn’t take any holiday or even mention doing so because somebody, somewhere, could do with a holiday more than him. 100 per cent reasonable, without question.

Angrycat2768 · 20/12/2023 16:54

And if someone can't afford a holiday, they will miraculously be able to afford a holiday because someone they will never meet hasn't had a holiday. Even better OP, start a Puritan revival and sack all entertainers so not only won't they be able to afford a holiday either, we won't have any Christmas, and we can pass the time by praying and sewing our sackcloth!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 20/12/2023 17:02

I don't watch those shows, but YABU. People, including celebrities, can have busy, high-pressure times and events. Anyone is allowed to feel like they need a holiday when they've had a lot going on, even if their life might be privileged compared with others'.

ReindeerShelter · 20/12/2023 17:04

Why does being a celebrity mean you don’t work hard and/or need a holiday? Confused

Jealousy is not a good look, OP.

toomuchfaff · 20/12/2023 17:06

Just because you think their life is easier than yours.. bitterness isn't a good look. 😕

Doseofreality · 20/12/2023 17:08

You are being unreasonable watching Loose Women.

gotomomo · 20/12/2023 17:08

Whilst I have no idea who these people are (don't watch strictly), just because your job puts you in the public eye, doesn't mean you don't work hard, some public figures work very hard. Yes there are so called celebrities who seem to "work" by taking photos of themselves doing nice things and putting them on instagram but they are the exception, most public figures do have to work a lot to make a living, it isn't the same work but it's still many hours to produce an unreliable income, rich celebrities are the exception in all honesty, the majority don't earn more than a regular salary

Edinburghguy · 20/12/2023 17:12

I understand where you’re coming from but the problem with this attitude is that it will only perpetuate your own misery.

Everything is relative in life. To the mere millionaire, the problem is not being able to buy a decent yacht. To the multimillionaire, the problem is not being able to buy a fancy yacht with all the accessories. And to the billionaire, the problem is having a massive fancy yacht but maybe no friends onboard that are actually genuine.

Focus on what you do have and can achieve and you’ll be much happier.
