To think primary schools are breaking up too late this year

I know some schools finished last week but my 2 don’t break up til Friday.

They’re exhausted, they’re acting up, the Christmas excitement has taken over and turned them into a right bag of dicks this week.

I don’t remember ever breaking up this late when I was a kid.

And they’re off til 8th January. God help me!

Should I just be glad they’re out of the house?

Given how short next term is, I do think they could have broken up say 20th and gone back 4th.

We broke up on the 20th and are back on the 2nd. That’s not two weeks. Official end of term in our county was the 15th but apparently academy chains can ignore this.

Not getting two weeks would bother me.

My DD broke up on the 15th! Far too
early IMO… and has to go back on the 2nd which is also too soon!
id rather she broke up mid week last week (20th) and went back on the 8th!

I assumed all schools broke up early because Easter is so early next year that the spring term is a short one… so they want them in that week early in January amd will break up Easter Friday to try to make the term a bit longer.

My school is the opposite. We broke up on Friday, back the 8th (staff only - students back the 10th), finish 12th feb for half term and back the following Monday then break up 22nd March for Easter and back the 8th April

I’m a TA in a primary school & broke up on the 22nd. The kids were grumpy & the teachers were grumpy. It felt like us TAs were keeping it together with very little thanks. We go back on the 4th Jan. I’m tired.

Dd broke up 15th, going back 9th. It seemed later than previous years but I think they are going back later too. I'd hate her to have been at school until 22nd!

This is the second Christmas in a row I’ve had a horrible cold virus just in time for the big day - and the second year in a row DC have broken up on the 22nd. I don’t think it’s a coincidence!
