To have bought an 'ugly' Christmas cardigan?

porridgeisbae · 19/12/2023 22:49

Not a jumper as I want to be able to throw it on and off if I get too warm.

I didn't own an official Christmas garment and thought I should have one.

Do you have one?

I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BG25K2P2 if I hadn't left it till last minute I'dve had more to choose from and would've got something a bit more Jesus-y like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gonna-Party-Birthday-Jesus-Christmas/dp/B0B77XVGDK

@porridgeisbae it's really not my sort of thing but enjoy it OP 😁

porridgeisbae · 20/12/2023 17:48

@Tonight1 I don't think it's many people's sort of thing Grin It's not going to become part of my everyday wardrobe. Smile

Watch out for static, It looks like it might spontaneously combust.

CarpetSlipper · 20/12/2023 19:36

I was going to say YANBU but then I looked at the cardigan! That is fucking horrendous.

Holidayhell22 · 20/12/2023 19:46

Sorry op, I like cats but that is a step too far. Having said that I’m a great believer in individuality so wear it with pride.

Ap42 · 20/12/2023 20:15

It's brilliant. In an awful, ugly cardigan kind of way! Wear it for shits and giggles, I would!

leachesleachesleachesleachesleaches · 20/12/2023 20:54

Are you Dawn O’Porter?

FoxInABox · 20/12/2023 21:13

I love it! My Christmas cardigan has bells on. I’m a firm believer Christmas jumpers/cardigans are better the worse they are.

Canthave2manycats · 20/12/2023 21:17

I couldn't cope with that cardi and I am a mad cat lady as my username suggests!!

But Christmas jumpers by their very nature are cheesey!

I refuse to wear one but I have Christmas charms for my bracelet!

Grammarnut · 20/12/2023 22:13

I like the cats one, though I would not wear a Christmas cardigan (have two perfectly good non-Christmas cardigans). The Jesus one is tasteless.

DaftyInTheMiddle · 20/12/2023 22:35

Oof that is terrible!! I love it 😂

I have a horrible cardigan from b and m as I get too hot in jumpers. It’s a pain in the arse as it’s too long in the arm and doesn’t sit very well on me.

DP has this Jesus jumper but he looks like Jesus so it’s sort of weird looking at him when he wears it.

I love it!!! Everyone should have at least one ugly Christmas garment

feelingalittlehorse · 20/12/2023 22:56

Well, I for one think that is excellent. 10/10 OP, worth every penny!!

Lecc · 20/12/2023 23:02

Ha ha, I love cats and that cardigan is so bad, it's utterly amazing. I would wear that to my work in a primary school. The kids would be thrilled 😁

TheKnittedCharacter · 20/12/2023 23:05

That’s one fugly polyester horror story. I don’t suppose anyone would wear that seriously so brazen it out.

I have bought my husband an absolutely horrific oodie affair as a joke present. I’m fully expecting he’ll wear it in Christmas Day (before it mysteriously disappears 🤔).

TheKnittedCharacter · 20/12/2023 23:07

I love that Jesus jumper!

elkiedee · 20/12/2023 23:07

I think that looks quite fun and would also prefer a cardi to the standard Christmas jumper. But if I get any Christmas money to spend on me, I need clothes that I like and that are more versatile more than I need a cats in hats cardi.

DS2 announced at 7.45 yesterday not just that it was Christmas jumper day at school but that he wanted to wear one! Fortunately, though DP just said he didn't know where any were, I went and just grabbed an armful of his clothes, and dug out a dull but reasonably clean Christmas jumper that fits DS2 - nearly 15, much taller and skinnier than his dad or me - really reasonably well. I also found a hideous one that DP decided to put on, but hey. At least we dodged having to spend time and money on "new" Christmas jumpers which would then disappear somewhere for another 3 years!

Pigeon31 · 21/12/2023 05:45

Haha, if you're going to go for it, go ALL IN. Its a daft but fun cardie and I hope you and your friends/ fam get a good laugh out of it.

I have a cheapo/ cheesy Christmas jumper I got from Primark a few years back. It only gets worn a few days a year, but it's brightly coloured and I'm always surprised how much positive reaction it gets when I'm out and about with it.

PieAndLattes · 21/12/2023 12:12

You win Christmas 🎅

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 21/12/2023 12:33

It's both a fire hazard and a talking point.

divinededacende · 21/12/2023 12:51

NEVER ask for opinions on "festive" clothing. By default, most of them are tacky and godawful and we wouldn't consider them at any other time of the year. Buy whatever monstrosity makes you smile and wear the shit out of it.

porridgeisbae · 21/12/2023 14:48

Are you Dawn O’Porter?

Ugh, no? I've only seen her model that nasty line for Joanie recently.... Oh no, just googled and she's in Joanie Xmas jumpers...ewww

@FoxInABox Oooh, maybe I'll have to add some bells. Grin We could start a competition. Smile

They brighten people's day. I'm not sure about when non-lidl staff wear ones with LIDL written all over them though. That's next level tongue in cheek at best.

It's like "Christmas with the Kranks" 😂😂😂

I love that film and the book's even better🎄

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 21/12/2023 15:30

Is that not the point of xmas jumpers?? 🤔

porridgeisbae · 21/12/2023 15:45

@Didshejustsaythatoutloud Maybe but I wouldn't usually deliberately spend money on an unattractive item. Grin
