To have bought an 'ugly' Christmas cardigan?

porridgeisbae · 19/12/2023 22:49

Not a jumper as I want to be able to throw it on and off if I get too warm.

I didn't own an official Christmas garment and thought I should have one.

Do you have one?

I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BG25K2P2 if I hadn't left it till last minute I'dve had more to choose from and would've got something a bit more Jesus-y like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gonna-Party-Birthday-Jesus-Christmas/dp/B0B77XVGDK

Am I weird as I like it and it is different and as you say better than a stuff old jumper that you get roasting in when cooking etc .. I think it is cute.
My adult son hates all cardigans and keeps threatening to throw out my favourite ha.. we joke about it but is great if chill or going out in garden for a minute as can put it on and off easily. I threw away a great cardigan years ago and to this day regret it as the quality is just not there now when buy one.
Enjoy your cardigan and your kitties miaow

CatMadam · 20/12/2023 06:58

I love the cat cardigan 😭

grumpycow1 · 20/12/2023 07:39

It’s hideous. I love my Christmas jumpers and cardies but YABU to buy such a horrid one brand new from Amazon when there are so many second hand Christmas cardigans and jumpers around. The vintage ones look much better if you ask me. This one is horrible I’m just imagining the texture of the fabric too 🤮

grumpycow1 · 20/12/2023 07:43

Oh gosh I just reread that and seem to have had a violent reaction against the cats! I also really hate Amazon 😂 sorry. You enjoy it though and wear what you like with pride!

HAF1119 · 20/12/2023 07:46

Ah I love it! It's bad but when I was looking at Xmas jumpers me and my son liked (primary) online call the ones we liked were listed as 'ugly' 😂 ah well, we like them!

LikeTheMorningDew · 20/12/2023 07:46

They both flash up "sponsored by mumsnet" when I click them and say Mumsnet earns a commission. Who is posting this thread?

ConfusedandLostt · 20/12/2023 07:54

Mumsnet gets commission from any and all Amazon links posted, regardless of who posts them.

I hate your cardigan OP but in a "I really want one because it's ugly and hilarious " kind of way Grin

I’m slightly disappointed that it’s a shirt and not a cardie - I’d love a Christmas cat cardigan!! On the plus side I was feeling half asleep and the clashing patterns woke me up 🤣🤣

Hoping for an update pic to see if the actual item looks as dazzling as its product shot.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 20/12/2023 08:02

😱

OhpoorMe · 20/12/2023 08:16

You can literally buy a million cardigans/zip ups online inc Amazon to come before Christmas. So I'm assuming this is some sort of wind up or weird attempt to have a viral thread Confused

Gawjushun · 20/12/2023 11:24

Those photoshopped items are horrific. It won’t be a cardigan, but a polyester piece of crap with the cats printed on one side. Hopefully you can return it or you’ll have an expensive cleaning cloth!

DuckyLuck · 20/12/2023 11:42

Yes, it's awful.

Don't get why you have to have one at all?

StewardsEnquiry · 20/12/2023 11:44

I also like it. Christmas jumpers are not meant to be stylish.

CoffeeCantata · 20/12/2023 11:56

That is awful, OP!

Why not invest in a long-lasting and beautiful Christmas something that you can wear over and over? Either a nice knit (fair-isle, cashmere, cable etc ) or something subtly sparkly? Far less likely to end in landfill so quickly.

pizzaHeart · 20/12/2023 12:01

I don’t think it would suit me especially with white top underneath but I like the idea

porridgeisbae · 20/12/2023 12:06

People are so paranoid on here sometimes (and I say that as a lover of Reddit. Wink )

Next year I'll put more work/time into finding something decent.

You can literally buy a million cardigans/zip ups online inc Amazon to come before Christmas.

Yes, they weren't as striking, though. Grin

Love the car one.

TheShoulder · 20/12/2023 14:41

That is truly hideous but it's so bad it's almost good 😂

I'm not sure I would wear it outside the house unless it was Christmas Jumper day. And certainly not near any naked flames...

ilovesushi · 20/12/2023 15:01

That cardigan is hideous and hilarious. I almost want one too.

Ffsmakeitstop · 20/12/2023 15:16

It is actually awful. You can get some nice Christmas t shirts in Asda for less than a tenner.
I get them for work as I am always hot.

purplecorkheart · 20/12/2023 15:20

We had a Christmas Lunch where all the different Businesses in the Building we worked got together. You would have won the a prize for that cardigan. It was a night away in a hotel so if you had a ugly cardigan/jumper. Can I borrow it for next year?

Whatineed · 20/12/2023 15:27

practicepracticepractice · 19/12/2023 22:58

I bought a Christmas cardigan a few years ago from Beyond Retro and it gets worn from 1st December, pretty much every day.

I love it. I don't think it's as ugly as the one you posted, mines more of a 1980s style, although 15 yo thinks it's the most ugly thing.

i am thinking about getting a Christmas sweater vest too 😁

It's like "Christmas with the Kranks" 😂😂😂

LuckySantangelo35 · 20/12/2023 17:06

@porridgeisbae

youre not a actually going to wear that are you OP?

Mumaway · 20/12/2023 17:16

It's awful and hence entirely suitable and appropriate for Christmas. I love it.

porridgeisbae · 20/12/2023 17:26

@LuckySantangelo35 Just in front of family probably on Xmas day, so they'll 'appreciate' it (or pretend to.) Grin

@purplecorkheart of course Smile
