To lock DH out of the house?

So many things have gone on and I'm at a point where I'm completely fed up. I don't want this in my life. He's been out all day again on a bender, I really don't want him coming in disturbing me and DC at god knows what time in the morning and I certainly don't want him around tomorrow when he's hung over when I have to work from home.

AIBU to lock him out?

Yabu, its his house and he's had no warning. Explain you need sleep so he needs to be quiet and sleep on sofa. Woman up and sort it more permanently tomorrow.

You could also send a message to the family WhatsApp saying 'DH has said he is staying out drinking till 3am I need to go to bed and lock up soon- which of your houses can he go to?'

And they should then tell the OP to grow up and not leave the key in the lock as a form of punishment. They are not responsible for him. If the OP is fed up with her dh's behaviour then she needs to deal with that.

You ok @wdc2024 ?

I'm not surprised you've had enough. You're right that you don't need an alcoholic in your life. Tell him it's over. You and your children don't deserve this.

Still no sign of him. I have put the keys in the back of each door so he can't get in. I've sent a message to say don't bother coming back because you won't get in.

I would ring the police if he caused a disturbance

And you're not going to come out of that looking good. First thing they'll do is tell you to let him into his house.

Can't imagine your kids sleeping through him banging on the door then the police turning up

You can't (legally) lock him out. He may call the police before you do & rightly so

WandaWonder · 18/12/2023 03:35

If it is his place also you cant lock him out, call the police if there is issues, same as a other current thread a man can't lock a woman put ands it works in reverse, no matter what sex

And stop balming everyone else for his behaviour that is on him, and on both of you allowing this around children - they are the victims in this
