Putting clothes on from inside out to right way around

DH and I were discussing last night if it is normal for people to be able to put clothing that is inside out, onto their body the right way around in 1 motion. E.G. when I take off a jumper it will be inside out, without turning it the right way around I put it back on but it will be the correct way around.

I can to it easily with jumpers/ hoody/ t-shirts I can do it with trousers but don't as much.

At school in PE I would take my shirt + jumper off together, hang them up inside out then pick them back up inside out and pull them on together reversing them as I put them on.

YABU - No most people turn the clothing the correct way then put it on

YANBU - That's pretty common and loads do it.

I could do that, and might in a changing room etc. but usually I turn things the right way round to check they're still clean enough for a second were

Can you not take them off without turning them inside out? Strange.
Do you know the side label is always on the left so that blind people can dress.

That seems to awkward to me, esp with a jumper. You have to pull your arms out one at a time and leave them under the jumper while you pull it over your head. I just take it at the bottom and pull up.

No I did not know that, that is so clever. I only had 1 acquaintance at uni who was blind and never got into really chatted to him about anything other than uni stuff

...I just take it at the bottom and pull up.
I feel claustrophobic doing that as it feels like your head is in your jumper for longer. I think it stems from trying to do it with a shirt and jumper in my school days and forgetting to undo the top button of the shirt so I'd be stuck.
I always do the arms out first then over the head so everything is the right way round.

Same as you OP. I do it with tops but not trousers. Also I often was and iron stuff inside out but never bother turning it the right way, just poke my head in, job done.

Same. I wash stuff inside out as sometimes the instructions require it, and it's just how the clothes end up when I take them off. I don't turn them back round the right way to dry them, or to fold them, or to put them on. Just put them on while they're inside out.

My brain can't quite fathom how you'd do it for trousers though, so I do definitely turn those the right way round first!

I'd never considered that this wasn't a thing!

Joonio · 13/12/2023 12:15

Just tried the sweater. Head first then arms.

@Ablondiebutagoody I was all my clothing inside out because that's the way it comes off! But apparently it is better for the clothing, stops the bobbling being on the good side

Why would all your clothes be inside out when you take them off. 🤷‍♀️

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 13/12/2023 12:23

That seems to awkward to me, esp with a jumper. You have to pull your arms out one at a time and leave them under the jumper while you pull it over your head. I just take it at the bottom and pull up.

I pull one arm out so it's under the jumper, then take it over my head, then take the jumper off down the remaining arm. I've never taken a top off by grabbing the bottom and pulling it up.

jamaisjedors · 13/12/2023 12:27

I do this and my partner thinks it's the most amazing thing he's ever seen - he loves watching me put a jumper on! I had never even thought about it before I met him, but it's true, you take them off, they are inside out, you wash them and then you put them back on from inside out, it's a perfect system!

I don’t take my clothes off inside out though... So there’s no additional step to put them the right way again.

Same. My clothes are never inside out.

MagpiePi · 13/12/2023 12:34

I do this all the time, and taking all the layers off and putting them back on in one go.

Disturbia81 · 13/12/2023 12:37

Yes I've always done this, never need to turn them the right way

Ablondiebutagoody · 13/12/2023 12:42

How was it for you? I bet you've never felt so alive 😁

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 12:46

@ConsistentlyElectrifiedElves put your feet in the feet holes, the take the waist band and pull up. Works easily with tracksuit/ baggy jeans I wore in my grunger phase. But not easy or even very possible with anything tight.

I would guess a lot of you can also take your bra off without taking your clothes off too. DH def thought that would some jiggery pokery

The only time I might do this is when taking off T-shirt and jumper at the same time I leave it inside out with the arms still within the inside out body.

I might then put them both on together the way you do

I only do this if I'm a hurry to change for keep fit I do online.

Pipistrellus · 13/12/2023 12:47

My clothes don't come off fully inside out. They are mostly the right way, sometimes half inside out so I need to fix them to fold them anyway.

Haha thank Goodness, another person like me! I have to make sure both sleeves are the right way or else I'll get in a tangle putting a shirt/jumper on! Trousers always come off right side, can't imagine turning them inside out as they come off, pretty sure I would trip over myself! 😂

wheeltrims · 13/12/2023 13:42

I do it all the time, also avoids getting make up on the neck of a top if you stick your head in first from inside out then you can control how it touches your face easier

MirandaWest · 13/12/2023 13:43

Milknosugarta · 13/12/2023 10:20

Not the point but, I recall my gran used to say if you had put something on inside out accidentally, some good fortune was coming your way. Mind you, she said loads of funny things like that. 😁

My granny used to say that and also that if you put something on inside out that it had to stay that way to have the luck!

megletthesecond · 13/12/2023 13:44

I assumed it was quite easy. I always do it. Especially with house clothes and pj tops.

StoodySmithereens · 13/12/2023 14:01

I was thinking that it might be a bit of a struggle, but if you’ve always done it you won’t know that.

It’s time saving, & it will air your clothes up better than if they were the other way around.

I’m going to try it later, but I like to hang my stuff on hangers, so not sure I’ll be sticking with it. That is providing I can do it.

JellyIegs · 13/12/2023 14:03

Just thinking about doing this has totally scrambled my brain! I would just be left standing naked, baffled, looking at my clothes.

I always do the arms out first then over the head so everything is the right way round.

It's so quick the other way, grab left hemline with R hand and R hemline with L hand then raise your arms above your head and everything just peels off.

MadamVastra · 13/12/2023 14:11

I am bamboozled

😂😂😂The thought of that give me a smile.

@StoodySmithereens I hang up clothes that have another wear in them on hooks on the back of my wardrobe.

@MereDintofPandiculation that's pretty much what I do, grab the bottom and pull up.
