AIBU to say that the purpose of articles such as this is to foster resentment towards disabled children/young people? Clearly I'm naive but I'm surprised and disappointed that the BBC would report in this way. Yes £2.5m is a lot, but when you actually read further this is a placement for very complex SEN/behaviour spanning several years

Council billed £2.5m for pupil with special needs.

I don't know if posters remember some years ago when the system was changed from statements to the current system.
It was already difficult to get a statement of need for the child. but when it changed it became extremely difficult with many children that had funding for issues stopped because their needs were no longer 'bad' enough for support.

So the government has already cut funding for this in a massive way with at least 25% of the children with needs (in my old school) missing out on much needed support and funding.
