His response to his ex... what do you make of this?

Newish partner, things are going well and all the rest if it. However I unintentionally noticed his ex in his phone messages. It was her telling him she misses him and he responded with two kisses. What do you think of this? I just looking for outside perspectives. That seems to be the only interaction since they split and I'm certain they haven't seen eachother since. Ami giving this too much thought?

You’re on very tricky ground.
Never get involved with someone who’s still married and only very recently left their wife.

Why is he texting his ex at all if he’s now with you? Unless he has children with her, why is she still on his phone?

@lto2019

"Hey do you miss her too"

He's not exactly going to tell me if he does, is he!?🙄

If you can't ask him or have an honest conversation I'd end it now

gannett · 27/12/2023 08:50

Kisses but nothing else is a classic "trying to be nice, but ending the conversation". It's actually a little passive-aggressive too, especially in response to her saying she missed him. It's the equivalent of someone saying "I love you" and getting a "that's nice" response.

Two kisses and no actual words meant "all the best but I don't actually miss you in return"

I think in a roundabout way you're telling us you are the other woman even if nothing physical happened, now your wracked with insecurity ( probably rightly so he probably very much does miss her ) . Do they have kids ? When did they actually split ? And when did you 'fall in love '

Sux2buthen · 27/12/2023 08:58

You've done nothing wrong op, people in here like being deliberately awkward and ignoring the point of the post.
The whole thing seems iffy, I couldn't be doing with it. Good luck

So you were the OW?

Landoftime · 27/12/2023 10:20

To answer a couple of questions:

I definitely was not the "OW".
No, they don't have children.
No, our relationships did not over lap.

He’s still invested in his ex, even if it’s just getting a kick out of the attention and taking steps to keep her on the hook.

Either way, if you’ve any self respect, you’ll walk away.

Very mixed responses.
