... is unable to differentiate between Christmas and Easter?
I mean 'Easter Parade' as the Sunday afternoon film on the 9th December!
They'll be taking the all-year-round hot-cross buns away next...

not everyone celebrates christmas

and i take it you didn’t bother to read the film synopsis, just the title

jemenfous37 · 10/12/2023 07:25

@contactus Don't be so ridiculous. Of course I don't just read the film bloody title. Easter Parade happens to be a family favourite, and it centres on a bloody Easter parade.
Even if we don't all celebrate Christmas, in what is largely still a Christian country, it's daft planning.
But do please take a lighthearted moan and make it into a bitchfest

I saw Cadburys cream eggs in the garage on Friday.

Normally you can't get them at all between May and December. They appear back in the shops immediately after Christmas.

This year they are early. Its clearly getting earlier and earlier to start thinking about Easter.

Just y'know, saying.

WashItTomorrow · 10/12/2023 07:33

It seems OK. They’ll be saving any Christmas films until Christmas.

Ridingthegravytrain · 10/12/2023 07:35

Did you hear about the effect of the 20mph speed limit in wales on the charts? Chris Rea will be driving home for Easter 🐣

say you! 😂

JollyJunee · 10/12/2023 07:38

They tend to run classic films at Christmas and Easter. Singin’ in the Rain, Easter Parade, Gone With The Wind, Wizard of Oz, Meet me in St Louis. Those sorts of films. It’s just a classic film.
I love em all!

shellyleppard · 10/12/2023 07:40

😂😂😂😂

electriclight · 10/12/2023 07:43

Yes I thought that too. But I suppose BBC2 on a Saturday afternoon is always a random collection of old movies. I think Some Like it Hot was on after that.

BBC1 was rubbish too - Escape to the Country and Bargain Hunt.

ITV and Ch4 was much more fun with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Harry Potter and How to Train your Dragon. And Channel 5 was Christmas movies back to back.

Me and my mate said just the same!! 😁
I guess with so many streaming services these days, despite the cost of the licence, the BBC will have less films to chose from.

StarlightLady · 10/12/2023 09:03

Not every film shown has to relate to the season we are in. I watched one recently set in hot sunny weather, yet it is cold outside.

Plus 9 December is not Christmas! Round here Christmas is on the 25th.

Chilicabbage · 10/12/2023 09:08

Anyone saying "it's not Christmas", it's advent, which is period of preparation for Christmas and includes many "Christmas" traditions. it's nit just nothing, then 25th, then nothing again

Elvis1956 · 10/12/2023 09:09

Easter parade was the film that launched bing Crosby's White Christmas.... hence the reason why it's on now.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 10/12/2023 09:12

Easter Parade has the song, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in it.

In terms of scheduling, probably the same person who puts back to back WWII films on a Mothering Sunday.

StarlightLady · 10/12/2023 09:12

And surely it’s not appropriate to show “White Christmas” unless it’s actually snowing! 😂😂😂

NigelHarmansNewWife · 10/12/2023 09:14

As it hardly ever snows at Christmas in the UK - rain is more likely - you could argue it's wholly inappropriate.

LakeTiticaca · 10/12/2023 09:36

What exactly is wrong with all year round hot cross buns? 🤣

LlynTegid · 10/12/2023 10:30

If only that was the least of the bad decisions of the BBC. They plan to show the foul mouthed Mrs Brown's Boys over Christmas and call it a comedy.

How on earth did it do that?

Yes I saw that was on, yet again

10HailMarys · 10/12/2023 10:34

FFS, just because it’s December, that doesn’t mean that only Christmas themed films are allowed on telly. Relax!
