To think that the new labels on rolls of wrapping paper is the shittiest idea?

Whose idea was this fucking nonsense? The paper labels on Tesco wrapping paper are impossible to get off and it's infuriating! They must actually waste a fair bit of paper through 'rippage' and it's completely pointless.

They give extra on the roll to cover the damage getting it off, it says as much on the label.
Better than the plastic waste

Total PITA. There has to be a better solution. A paper “collar” around the roll to hold it shut??

But then I have to start by cutting a big line of the paper off to remove the damage. I don't want to do this. I refuse to believe this is the best way to hold the paper together, and there are no better solutions.

I've had a few rolls of this and it has just peeled off without tearing. May leave a faint mark but it gets folded under when wrapping.

A couple of thin elastic bands would be better as you could reuse. Or paper bands (like you would do for a paper chain) you could cut off (although these would probably slip and fall off.

I haven't had this issue with Tesco paper and it says on the label they give you extra paper so you can cut that bit off

Really fucking annoying! They always rip the paper then you need to cut a section off which means you don't start with a straight edge.

I've bought from Tesco and Sainsburys and haven't lost any paper from ripping. The stickers peel straight off.

Awful things ! l wish poor old Wilkos were still here to get all my paper from . Used to get it folded on sheets from there . So easy .

I've had no problem with them ripping, I'm really careful, but the absolute trick -if anyone else hasn't discovered it! - is to peel the sticker only until you reveal the other end, then peel it off from the 'wrong' end instead, so you peel it off the cut end of the paper last, not first.

They wrap the stickers the same direction as they roll the paper, if they wrapped the stickers the opposite direction to the roll it would be so much easier to take them off.

Annoying to have to do but I blast them with the hair dryer for a couple of seconds. It loosens the glue and peels off easier 😂
