I wfh - How to cheaply stay warm this winter?

I work from home. With the energy price so high, and cost of living going up rapidly, how can I cheaply stay warm during the day? Ideally, I don’t want to use central heating until 4pm. It’s already costing a bomb to keep the house heated between 4pm and 8pm (when kids are at home).

Im wearing a jumper, but can’t layer up more as I have to attend meetings on zoom.

Neck scarf. I've got a dozen pretty ones.
A fleece over a jumper.
Vest.
Hot water bottle or blanket for your knees.
A keep hot cup of coffee for a long meeting.

I wfh and my office is freezing but I refuse to put the heating on. Like others have said, layer up with fermals. I use a hot water bottle, a slanket/wearable blanket and fingerless gloves so I can still type. The beauty of the slanket is that if I have meetings, I can take my arms out of the sleeves and roll it down to my lap so no one can see it. It has foot holes too so the rest of me remains warm. I have an electric heater under my desk which I run occasionally to keep the chill off the room.

Keep the back of your neck warm and you’ll see a big difference. Layers, slippers and a blanket on your lap.

Did the OP ever come back to explain why they can’t layer up? I really can’t imagine any boss or colleague objecting about you wearing thermal layers or a cardigan/scarf?! How would they know if you had extra socks or a blanket over your lap!?

Between meetings rug up with an Oodie (wearable blanket), put a hot water bottle on your lap and at your back during the meetings.

I found some salopettes from Aldi in the understairs cupboard left over from the year 8 ski trip. Slipped on over my jeans kept me very toasty yesterday. No heating, big draughty 4 bed Edwardian semi with sash windows, minimal insulation etc..i also use a desk duvet, a box to put my feet on out of the draughts, with a pillow on top & put a hot water bottle into the pillowslip, and have a microwave heat pad on my lap. Oh and I work upstairs in the middle floors, as it's slightly warmer
